Are you serious? Has anyone on this "team" ever worked with ASSS?

when this is finished, it will be distension, only without all the bad effects, such as rearm or queueing.

There will be other bad effects, they just haven't made themselves apparent yet.

what this means to you:
stats/ships/rp will NOT be lost, even after the zone change.

Yeah, I suppose this is possible without too much difficulty assuming you keep everything EXACTLY the same.

the work load -might- be reduced due to the macro similarities between twcore and asss, i hope D:

the other coders really cant do shit until i get my shit together, so in this part, its all me.
so far, the asss zone is up and running, that was the easy part, currently distension is in an arena, but im thinking about putting it in a SINGLE pub, and multiples when there is multi-arena support.

You mean you extracted the zip file and started the executable? yeah, that IS the easy part. ASSS has multi-arena support by default.

next steps to be taken:
qan sends me ship settings, and any new files, and i put them in.
i get a 'hello world' module to compile, then successfully get it to load into asss (pm me ingame if you have experience with this)
work begins on the distension.java file, in converting it to a asss module. (java -> c++) (twcore -> asss)
everyone plays distension 24/7

ASSS is written in C, not C++, and I think you're dramatically underplaying the conversion.

I mean, good luck and all but I don't realistically see this ever happening. The level of understanding of even the operation (much less coding) of ASSS that has been demonstrated in this thread would suggest to me that at the absolute bare minimum I would not expect it to be done in less than a year. If you're going to be spending a lot of effort on something, might I recommend throwing manpower at something closer to Earth? There is no shortage of TWCore work to be done.

The way ASSS modules are written is so that they function for any number of arenas from the start. Not doing it this way would require a big rewrite when you actually decide to do it because the zone keeps crashing anytime anybody types ?go distension2

and yet it must be made simple for all to understand =)

Here's simple enough for all to understand: it's a gargantuan task that (probably) totally eclipses anything you have done in the past. This is not something where you're just going to be able to do a find and replace "bot.movePlayer" to "module.movePlayer". The java code will basically be a roadmap for the higher level logic of what you want the module to do; it will require almost a complete rewrite even for a straight port with no changes in functionality.

Well I based that off of the following estimate. Right now I think it would take me minimally a few months to get it working if it was the only thing I was doing. I know what I'm doing and I have a full testing setup in place already so I could begin writing it immediately. The learning curve for this stuff is very steep. It would take a considerable amount of time before someone who has never written an ASSS module would know enough to be at the point where they could do it in a few months. Now of course I could be completely wrong, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Oh please, silly attempts to butter me up will not work. I didn't come here to beat my chest because quite honestly I don't need to. I'm just trying to offer my insights into a situation I am more familiar with than most people reading this thread. As far as tips are concerned, I already gave you one. If you want to take on a pet project, go for it. You'll probably learn a bunch of stuff. If you're looking for tangible results or something being completed before a long time has passed, I would look towards other ventures.

PS. I have no idea why you are attacking LB, it just makes you look foolish.
