I'd love to see base partly return to its roots, just to see what happens. Get rid of the zoners, and no longer have it running 24/7. It probably doesn't matter if it's in a private arena or not, but it kinda makes it feel more "special" I guess. Encourage players to go into pubs and invite a couple of people in to play! You'd be amazed at how many basers got their start this way back in the days of the private arenas. HELP new players, and don't yell at them or be a dick. When I first started playing in #myth, someone actually explained to me how to properly time and play in shark (Triceratops... RIP) which is unheard of in this day in age. Automated base was fun for a while, but it sucks for the long term survival of the game. Another important aspect is that because it wasn't run 24/7, it was something to look forward to, which made it a lot more fun.

This is a good idea, But, I don't think basers would ever like this. If it is something to look forward to, then baser caps won't add newbs. They want to win.

If it is automated though, it occurs more frequently, and more new people can have oppurtunities to play. I also propose randomizing who gets cap, make it so everyone can say something like !play. Once they do this, matchbot collects whoever said it, and randomizes who gets cap. That way, newb basers can have a chance to put in some of newbbasers friends AND some vets so they could win.

My 2 cents

I agree with wark and the dozen or so others that say the automation needs to be minimal. I didn't get to play a whole lot while the bots were down, but I did get in a few rounds of elim and about 15 minutes in ?go javs. I'll agree that the javs arena is not made for 30 people flying in it, there was just endless strays being lobbed around. My FAVORITE part about that day though was in elim. With so many people playing, everyone gets more kills. I got over 20 kills every round I played (still lost), and I haven't done that in at least 3-4 years. Felt really good to see "Lizard Fuel is out 27 wins 10 losses". Made me feel pro.

My point was not to brag, but to emphasize that this is what a full arena of elim can and might do for other players, and it is my belief that less automation would lead to a much better elim.

Serious question, would drastically reducing the # of bots in the zone relieve some of the pressure on the server? By cutting down lets just say.....15 arenas/bots, would that free up more packets/bandwidth that could be used in other aspects of the zone? (aka Distension)
