Late Night Pubbers Are People Too

For awhile now we have had a situation where there is only 1 pub for several hours. Usually around 1am-6am PST.
Since Pub0 has become the "open pub" without ship restrictions, or timed basing, it has created a situation where late night pubbers have no real option other than to fly around spawn killing eachother.
I would like to see Pub0 timed during these hours.
There are a few things that would have to be omitted for it to still be a viable environment for lt's. These are: Turning off ear warp; and not restricting private freqs.
If this could be done it would benefit the general players who want somekind of structured game, and also the lt's who would enjoy the extra people in base.
If it can be done through the voting system that would be great, if it needs a bot to be brought in, then maybe staff could oblige if they are available?

yeh but people dont, and if they did it would split the lt's from the basers and basically kill both arenas.

Edit: I dont see what the big problem is, all you would be doing is activating the timer in pub0 so that people had more options.. IMO all pub arenas should be timed anyway.

When I get on "late night" (Eastern Standard Time), I rarely want to play pub because of this. But I assume nobody wants to do base pubbing so I just deal with it and go back to masturbating. Clearly doesn't seem like it's in demand those house. In fact I get the impression there are not even enough basers on late-hours to even do an actual game. So if there are...uhh...

maybe there was some small reason they aren't timed? I think it had to do with automatically warping people. People don't want to get auto warped... if they did they could make use of the command (assuming it's available)

This is where I think the 40 player limit adversely affects the game. Late at night, when there are nearly 40 people playing in one arena, no one (including basers) wants to go in the empty arena and wait for others to show up. So they either don't play pub at all, or they spec until a space opens in pub 0. It's a critical mass problem, and I don't know of an elegant way to deal with it. TagMor's idea seems like a good approach because it creates a basing motivation without forcing it.

I loved the earwarps because it made everyone in the arena susceptible to death for one moment. Warbird & lanc boost noobs, LTs, rec whores, campers, and anyone else who always flees and only takes a shot if it's a cheap one, all had a chance to get in a small room together and eat lead. But that's just me. I know some people hated the earwarps, and I'd settle for just having a timer in pub 0. IIRC with the voting bot, it was one of the votes that was usually unanimous or close to it.

I'm not going to play your little game HMS. It is rather pathetic coming from a SMod.. but then lately this kind of staff behaviour seems to be the norm.
This idea is for the benefit of the game, and hopefully will have some small impact on preserving player numbers.. Why do you have to be such a douchebag and hinder it's process?

Yep! but the pub with 40 players is always the one with levis in it, and basing with levis is fucking stupid. I also think they should both be timed; it doesn't force anyone to base (like mandatory, or auto-set earwarping does), but obviously that idea has been brought up before so why isn't it the case now?
Also HMS and I used to be cool but he's a dick now, so I feel you on that TagMor. But then again I was the moderator for Emory's online announcements and also a torrent site admin, and most people in the world are fucking stupid anyway. HMS is still dickcheese though.

The only staff member I dont think is adequate for his position is Stabwound.
However, there is a trend of apathy seeping into Staff that could do with being addressed.
And lb, you dont think a high-level staff member telling you "does it look like i give a shit" when you are trying to discuss an improvment in the zone, is call for concern? You're a spineless fuck who would blindly defend staff no matter what the situation.
