Why not let anyone who wants to contribute?
Make the chat local so any spammers can be booted, then have an invitation as teh welcome message when people log in?

I think this is a good idea, to a degree. It will be immensely helpful to have an open form of communication that anyone who wants to contribute can tap. But we need to have a small number of dedicated individuals to make organizing and improving pub their main priority.

Kontrolz I definitely think you'd be a positive addition as well, you were able to concisely lay out a nice basic outline of what we should focus on in your previous post.

If we can't get players from every type for the committee, we can at least recognize that they have a driven following in pub and not leave those players by the wayside as we strive to improve things.

PL, thanks for coming on board- would it be possible to have a portion of the TW site dedicated to having a summary of updates we'll be doing on pub, e-mails people can write to in order to submit suggestions, and things of that nature? I think having a part of the website, e-mails as well as having the TWBeta chat as open forms of communication will greatly increase our amount of feed back from the population.

I would also prefer to keep the committee fairly small but with the main player contingents represented. The bigger a group gets, the harder it is to coordinate. I think we'd be best served by players who play a lot of pub, have shown an interest in making it better, and who seem to be mature and fair minded. For political reasons, we should probably avoid stacking the committee with too many people from the same squad.

Among Liquid Blue, Kontrolz and myself, I think pub basing is well represented. I also spawn duel in wb and spider when purepub is dead, javterr, and other turreting on occasion. TagMor, what type(s) of playing do you prefer in pub?

I think we need at least one lev/LT player and at least one other wb/spawn dueler. For lev/LT, I'd suggest:

• DankNuggets - demonstrated interest in making pub better; took initiative and put in some legwork to conduct pub player surveys. Has defended LTs in the past.
• H u F F - plays a lot of pub. An older fellow, so more likely to be mature. Thoughtful answers when I surveyed him a few weeks ago.
• Doc Flabby - veteran in ship 4, although I have not seen him in pub for a long time.

For pub wb, I'm really not sure. My informal impression is that maturity is a high hurdle to clear here... These are all tentative suggestions, based mostly on how they responded when they were approached:

Other:

• caucasian (spawn duels in spider; also basing)

With two or three of those people, we might want to close the loop for now. I have no idea if any of them are interested. I agree that we should remain open to suggestions from any pub player, on an ongoing basis. We will have to devise a feedback system (a forum or subforum seems like a good idea, or a form submission). We will also have to come up with some kind of governing framework for ourselves. What happens when someone else wants to join? What if the committee becomes so large that it becomes very difficult to manage? What constitutes a consensus? We can start with simple majority. What if Player A and Player B eventually can't interact without fighting, and some people want Player A gone and some want Player B gone? I nominate Pure_Luck as the arbiter of disputes among us, should they arise.

We should also have contact with someone on Bot Dev, since they will have to be involved for certain changes. If we decide we want to test something involving bot changes, how should Bot Dev prioritize it?

I've messaged Maverick about commandeering the poll bot that milosh used for a poll about elim, so we can get quantitative feedback from players. Until that is ready, a poll here in the forum is probably our only option. It's not terribly attractive because of the registration stuff, but it can reduce voting fraud.

We should try to hold a meeting soon, just to get the ball rolling. I'm also very busy with real world crap right now, but I could squeeze in a half hour or an hour somewhere. Im in for this. I pub like 3 hours a day...it's decent fun but yes, not like it used to be when I first started. I usually wb and run around PUB spawn. Or LT with friends and other pubbers. Let me know if you want feedback, or Ideas.

First off, lets just ignore paul. He's bored and is trying to troll this thread because he dislikes us for whatever reason(s). Lets try to keep this productive.

CPF made some good suggestions for people to include. You should ask those people of they'd even be interested in the first place. Also, Raver<420> has LT'd for a decade now and I'm positive he'd be interested in helping. He's also brought up some ideas on the forums before so he might be a good addition for the LT side of things as well.

As for the nominations on for 'spawn duelers' any of those 3 ppl should be good if they're willing to help. If you want people who strictly lev, then crawfishnbeer, LMAO, bush baby, etc would be good references. (i'm happy to help too, but i think those ppl would rofl if they heard i was 'the LT guy' )


If you want to avoid deadlocks and bias arguments, you would be best to have well-rounded pubbers on board too. Many of the people who hate LTs, for example, don't play them so they have a skewed view. Same could be said for people who do nothing but spawn duel. Having polarized people on the committee will help with assuring representation but it might hinder the ability to come up with useful compromises that benefit either party. Might even want to split it into a purepub committee too now that that i think about it, since the goals and priorities of the two pubs are different.

A really easy way to see who plays what and how often is the public statistics page that's been resurrected. You can tell who plays what ships, how often, and how good they are at it.



Using this forum, or a sub-forum therein, is totally useless. Of the 30 or so people i talked too (and directed here), only two or three of them eventually made it here to post ideas, and two of those people already had accounts. The one person who didn't ("Maverick_X" or similar) ended up posting his ideas two months after i interviewed him... basically because of the hurdles you have to go through to get on this forum. I think email might work--or an effective pollbot--or ol' fashion PMs if you can spare the man hours.

So an efficient means of gather responses needs to be in the works too. If it can't be done with a poll, it needs to be done by hand--which sucks, i can assure you--but it gives you insight into each person's feedback (people are more likely to expand on comments/suggestions with a live person than with a several blank lines on a form).
