I got bored and another idea popped into my head. I have created the squad "TW School", I plan to sit in arenas(mainly pubs) to invite players to it, who have no clue what they are doing. I also created a new chat and everyone, in the squad or out, is welcome to join for the sole purpose to teaching players. Before writing this, I created the squad and will now work on efforts of gathering up all the uninformed new players out there and set them in the right direction.

It's an open and public squad for everyone. If anyone feels they'd like to help by capping it for TWD I would appreciate it. unfortunately my efforts with my current squad prevent me from bringing this squad to TWD.

There is another squad that is being created, I believe it's called "Mentorship", that will rival this squad for equal level competition.

P.S. I expect people to spam the chat and attempt to ruin this because they are bored, but hopefully I can get this in the right direction.

a little late if you ask me. my little brother thinks this game is trash, and only plays it when he's bored. he doesnt care about learning the commands because he'd much prefer to be able to press the x button on an interface panel opened by l2.

Both. I hope to help players at all different levels, whether it be a complete introduction to the game or the ones that have been in the game for about a year or so that might need just simple dodging techs, basing knowledge, or jav strategies to help them with current competition in TWD.

I created the squad "Stray Trainee" some time ago. The objective of the squadron was to introduce new players into twd and motivate them to get good,being friendly and explaining everything to the players.

I started doing this in twdd,since its the league that i play!! I was able to get some great players to help me,and with that the new players could have an opportunity to play with veteran players and learn alot!!!!
Even tought it was a squadron to introduce new players,it was a strong squadron bcz it also had some friendly good players witch would help the newbies!!

Also to give more opportunity to the new players,i would let them join Stray later and maybe even have a chance to participate in twl,thats why it was called "Stray trainee".


The idea seemed cool and i was sure i would get some friendz and help the ppl.

The surprise started when i tried to invite ppl.

I went like to every arena,and talked to everyone, 1 by 1.... I would invite everyone.I went to the publics and well..guess what... i would only get "no"

95% would recuse my invite about joining a squadron,even tought most of them dont even have a squadron.

Im not sure what goes on their minds...I was giving them a great opportunity.I wish someone invited me to a squadron that and taught me things when i started playing....
Even some good players joined Stray trainee tought it wasnt created for them.But the newbies woudnlt join.I don't understand it.

the ones who would join,would be inactive or maybe after me teaching them and putting my time on them,they would just leave the squadron with no reason.

So...in other words..I was there rdy to give them all i my knowledge about the game and spend my time to help them. And they would just...give a shit about it... show no interess,etc...

so...fuck the newbies.... don't lose the time of ur life to help them in a 2d spaceship..ur time is more important than that.... don't lose ur time with newbies ...it's not worth.

I think Lance has a good idea. Even if he puts time and effort into noobs and they turn around and join another squad, or take the knowledge to be good in pub, at least he's done what he's saying he wants to do: get the noobs to join a squad that's willing to teach them how to play the game. <_<

Good luck Lance, I tried this in the past (lol dameon) and it was pretty fun but the squad was pretty crappy (like 0 wins 20 losses in TWD matches). If you want this to be of any success, I would suggest getting a few people you know to help you out.

I believe that you are right, that a lot of people won't join the squad. I'm actually less interested in getting players to join than I am about the ones who want to join the chat and maybe eventually join once everyone else throws them to the ground for being new. I have no interest in long term contracts with these players, my goal is to get them up to speed so they can join more serious squads and provide useful in the competition out there instead of sitting in pub all day shooting levi's with warbirds because they don't know what else to do. The gaps of skill in this game need to be filled.

I invite everyone who has the will to help to join the chat(?chat=learn2play), it will be open to everyone including the rival squad(Mentorship) that I hope can make it as well so competition between the two squads will be fun, interesting,(like two children's dojos doing tournaments) and on an equal level.

I haven't seen any serious commitment to this idea(outside of Stray Trainee) myself, of course I could have just missed it. Paladen I have made a dedication to, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I am able to with staying inside the rules of the game. I invite people who are squadless with the interest to help educate new players to join in and help these players get use to the game. I don't expect this squad to rise up high on the ladder, that's not the purpose. This post is not for advertising to those who need the help, all the new players I have to manually introduce them to the squad and the game, this post is to encourage veterans of the game to help and, if nothing else, join the chat to hand out advice.

Staff is not my goal with this, nor has been any of my other involvement with the community of late. My goal is to improve the community, in or out of staff. You don't need to be on staff to help this game.

i realized this problem about a year ago, and made an effort to recruit new players. We have a near 10 win 70 loss ratio and we still play for fun. Many of our members enjoy our forums @ devest.proboards.com for tips and links to like big bullets ect. Some have even started making maps or getting involved in DCME. Overall we have turned over quite a few number of noobs and continue to make a conscience effort in active recruiting.
