Is it just me who's noticing this, or has anyone else felt that:
1/ People don't talk on their freq chat as much anymore.
Used to be that people communicated with their team, whether to warn of cloakers or about the army boots someone's mother wears. The only yellow chats I see now are either warnings about levis or levis asking for terrs. Oh, and tk apologies. None of which, in my opinion, are indicators of a good basing arena. And what does it mean for the idea of TW as a community, if the populations is increasing but the communication is deteriorating?
2/ Terrs don't check for cloakers anymore
Used to be that base terrs kept an eye on x radar all the time. Nowadays, they don't tell us a cloaker is near until it's already killed someone or repped our team's mines. It's a bit late for a warning then. I think this is a result of my next observation:
3/ More and more new players are choosing to fly as terrs.
I've been seeing terrs making the same common mistakes, such as running mines while your shark is right behind you, or asking people to attach using pub chat. While the influx of new players wanting to be terrs is good, it seems that there is a long education process ahead before these new terrs develop.
4/ Teams get three or more sharks more and more often.
I've always said that a third shark is either a slower jav or a weaker levi. A fourth one is just a waste of bandwidth. People don't seem to know that freqs are only allowed 8 mines for all their ships. Anytime you have a third shark, it immediately becomes a handicap. While the extra reps may come in handy, pub sharking puts more emphasis on mining over reps, in comparison to hosted basing. The end result is more chaotic mining, leading to more team kills and poor coordination. A team with just 1 shark will be better off than a team with 3, as those 3 will often negate one another.
Now I know that some people will look at these and say "so what?", but I just think that these observations may be signs of the way things are going in TW. I've been around long enough to have seen how things have changed over the years. Not all changes have been good however. These observations haven't been very encouraging.
