Should elim and baseelim become one again?

This game was so much more fun when it was just ?go elim with Robo Ref. Does anyone remember back then (2002?) when people would actually rank, and it was way more competitive. Those days when players like banzi fuq, scuzzy sureshot, fireballz, jeraden, spawnisen, sika, dystrophy, joe, decypha, badboyz were always on top of the ladder. I miss that shit.
These days, it feels like there's a certain level of segregation, the javs don't know who the good wbs are, and the wbs dont know who the good javs are.

Back then people still knew. I don't think the split up has anything to do with that.

Being a former WoW player I recognize this kind of post.
WoW players are going "Remember vanilla wow when everything was fucking awesome, well balanced, players were cool and bosses were hard?"
YEah I remember it being all buggy, overtuned, undertuned, unbalanced.

Point is. People get nostalgic. Doesn't mean it was better before

i'm gonna run these forums today.

i'd like it more if we could strip the beta from these elim arenas. this has been talked about for a while. i talked to lofty to figure out what needed to be fixed. apparently, as many who play in these arenas know, the rating system wasn't right. it was said that it had been fixed, and that mmav needed to like just update them. as we can see, that hasn't happened yet.. so until that happens, we'll be stuck in beta.

Well, as long as warbird/javelin elim continue to have 30-40 players in them during peak hours I don't see this really needing to happen, however when elim gets stale again and there are maybe 15-20 in each we should combine them again/

Why are the arenas unlocked? I mean, sure the bot enforces ship sets. But when someone tries to enter the arena after it's been locked by the bot, they still populate in a ship if even for a split second. If they're automatically specced on someone when they do it, they appear directly on top of that person.

Who cares? Well, if this has ever happened to you exactly when you take a shot, it's extremely frustrating. What better way to waste a killer wb shot or get a bomb in the face because someone tried to enter. Just lock the arena!

Someone messed up the map setting or it has not been changed because the map used to support free play in another section of the map. Someone needs to sort that out.

I dont see why both games cant be played in the same arena at the same time.

But I doubt that will happen, since we cant even reset the database so we can see the actual rankings, and not the old ones from before the k:d needed was changed.

We are going to be removing the freeplay arena. I have also asked that the Beta name be stripped, but there is some work to be fixed on it. However, All these issues are now being worked on (Progress!!!) So it shouldnt be too much longer.

Why are we removing it? I actually liked it when we had it.
It just needs to be more seperate from the elim game in my opinion. Like players that vote for a game option automatically play from the freeplay area or they can do a command to play (plus a toggeable command for players to always automatically play when a new game is starting).

If the two freeplay areas (in elim and baseelim) are a good substitute for ?go javs, I'd say we can lock ?go javs and tell people to go to either ?go elim or ?go baseelim.
