    hey, here's an idea:

if someone is spec hunting you hit esc+q

    click the profiles button
    make a new profile
    enter the zone

get a friend to help spec hunt him

(note: if you have no friends, you can probably find someone who dislikes the player enough to help you)

Any cases where it's being considered "harassament" - that is they are repeatedly just killing you, spec hunting, changing arenas and such - that should warrant a warning and punishment for harrassment, a totally different rule. That is unless, they only enforce that for verbal harassment.

But seriously if they do it in PM there is no way to get in trouble for it, it's all hearsay.

He could just warp to safe or spawn.

You're right about that. However, a good LT spec hunter will gauge where a terr lays his portals as well as favorite shots. Blasting an LT after he warps is a very effective method of hunting.

You know I was honestly giving capt. poopface the intelligence award until he referenced someone. Man, seriously, referencing people for bad things and trying to sound smart does not go together people!

Spec hunting in pub can be used to harass a particular player beyond what is reasonable or fair though. The ships in TW are configured so that each ship has at least one ship it cannot counter very well. Terriers are probably the least exploitable in this regard. But if someone wants to (and let's not forget the inordinate proportion of assholes in the SS player base), he can constantly switch to the best counter to his harassee's ship to maintain the advantage. Sure, this happens in regular play sometimes, but when you are spec hunted, it is impossible for you to surprise the harasser. You are always at the disadvantage. He can also camp his lame ass somewhere (BobR), and always have the heads up when someone is coming, including perpetual free x-radar.

It's unfair because not everyone can do it. If there were some kind of bot request everyone could make every couple of minutes to give you the coords and ship type of a single player, that would be different. But since it can be abused, it will be, unless it is outlawed (and then it still will be abused, but probably a little less).

That's because the LT Lobby is much stronger than Warbirds or Javs lobbies.

It won't get changed because PL is a star LT and he doesn't want to get spec hunted.

Honestly, I dont see people complaining about spec hunting, only the staffers noting the player doing so to stop because it is illegal. I see no reason for the rule to exist.

    Nockm's words of wisdom.

Personally I think it should be legal!

Let's put on our makebelieve rtard helmets again, and pretend we're in outsidespace shooting aliems. You have starcommand with scanners, waaaay far away from you, detecting enemy ships and telling you were to go.

I could see something generally wrong if you have someone on their freq 'spying' and giving out their location. But it's war, right? Why do we even have rules at all?
