Why can I type 'fag' and 'chink' but saying 'n****r' or 'j*w' gets me banned?

It makes no sense to have these rules anyway seeing as you can spam PM a whole arena with racist remarks with no punishment but you can't type them in public. Funny stuff.

What is really stupid, is that you cant type the n-word, but you can be racist and talk shit without saying the word. I use racial slurs like everyday irl, but Im not racist because I dont really mean anything with them.

Saying the word isnt racism, but the attitude behind it is...and most of the people dont realise it.

i would argue that removing the restrictions would be best policy option. banning certain words is ineffective, one can be banned for saying "whatup nigga" but not for saying "black people are inferior to the white race".

the rule should just refer to something like "racist or discriminatory language". the only problem there is it involves alot of ambiguity. of course, that would ultimately be a disincentive to use anything that might be construed as racist, since there is no definition.

However, entirely removing the rule wouldn't really work - some players would go mental and spam the hell out of racial slurs just to be an ass.
We still need a middle ground in no rules and the banning-for-saying the wrong word.

Still, just banning for saying the n-word or one of the other "forbidden" words is just not right.

The whole "think of the children playing this game" isn't a real argument in this discussion either. "Children who play this game" would most likely have the ?obscene filter toggled on which filters out most of the racial slurs (I'm not 100% sure though but it can be modified). If "children" don't want to see racial slurs if we remove all the anti-racism rules, then they can toggle ?obscene on (which is turned on by default when you enter the zone).

P.S. Staff can't ban for private messages simply because it can't be proven that those private messages were actually sent (logs and screenshots can be modified). Plus, if you don't want to receive someone's private messages, you can ?ignore them. If someone changes his name just to get out of your ?ignore (and repeatedly doing so) this can be considered as harassment and becomes therefore a bannable offense.

We still have rules against spamming. Those rules I agree with because spamming is really annoying to just about everyone.

It's especially true considering if you go to any high school or whatever, everyone is saying these words anyway. It's like banning swear words in movies, but then you hear people swearing all around you anyway.
