First of all, isn't it against Google's TOS to have Kontera inline ads displayed along with Adwords ads? Regardless, even if it's not, inline ads are ridiculously annoying on a forum. Get rid of them...

Also, I'm just wondering: whose Google Ads/Kontera accounts are these, and who is getting the checks? Will there be some kind of public display of this "TW Fund"? I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but it would be pretty shitty for someone to try to personally line their pockets through this game/community, which has been done before, unfortunately.

As long as this is all on the up-and-up and Wax sincerely wants to help the game, then I don't see why everyone is going nuts. Everyone talks but never does anything, and that's a huge part of the problem. Sure, we could change to ASSS, but who is going to do it? Nobody. We get threads with 80 posts talking of advertising campaigns, etc. but when has anything seriously been done? Not to mention TW has lacked a real leader/overseer for a while now and it just feels like everyone on staff does whatever they want with no real direction. Personally, I'm glad that someone is taking charge and actually trying to do something (again, assuming that this is all legit and not some kind of scheme).

It's allowed according to Kontera. I turned off ABP to see the ads and I got an Ann Coulter ad...so ABP back on again.

I agree the censorship is kinda pointless, the web is full of swear words...its hard to avoid them...

Also does anyone have a copy of the template/skin of the old forum, it probably wouldn't be too hard to convert it to work this this version (i'd be willing to convert it) at least then us old skool forum people can keep the skin we like and are used to.

Sorry guys, but this wasn't a great move. As someone who knows how this shit works, I can tell you that there aren't enough people here to click enough links to ever make any money. Maybe 100 bucks every six months if you are lucky. I doubt even that much. You guys are better off asking for donations from the community than driving away your forum base by making unwanted changes. Also, you could have at least made it look halfway professional, instead of having it look like it was set up by a vB newb. Come on. It would have taken 30 minutes tops to convert the vB 3 template to vB4. It looks like y'all stayed up late one night and decided to get 250 bucks together to buy a fancy new piece of software without any knowledge of how to operate it properly, or without any real plan of action. Congrats.

I'm not a big fan of the layout and colors but I know those will change and become more uniform in time. I use ABP so I don't even see any ads, none of those bother me and if it will generate some revenue to upgrade/expand the servers/population, I'm all for it.

Good job Wax, your efforts are not wasted and are definitely appreciated. Good to see something actually getting done!

If you really think you're going to get more players on this game by doing all this shit to the forum you're stupid. The only thing you're accomplishing right now is pissing off the ones who keep this forum running.

Even if you get 10000 people from the ads, most likely 9999 of them will delete this game within 30 minutes. Why can't you all just leave the game as it is, just embrace the fact that this game is dying instead of putting so much time in something that's not going to happen. We are not going to go back to the glory days when we had 700 players online at the same time, it's just not going to hapen

I've seen what a mess the forum was behind the scenes, hopefull this upgrade clears that up a bit.

All that we need now is a better skin (which I know is already being worked on) and everything will be alright.
Maybe for the time being you should lookup a suitable (free?) skin for the forums. This darkgreen / brown skin is not that good imo.

1.) i don't see a timestamp on any of the posts. maybe i'm just blind, but this is important to me. i like to know how much time has passed when i'm repsonding to a specific poster.

2.) reply button at the bottom of the page. you catch up on a thread and you're sitting at the bottom of the last page and then you have to go back up top to click reply.
