here's a ?squadlist from a late-ish version of cripples. i believe this was the make-up of the squad close to the end of its golden era run. no eph or danyaldenyo or crazi and other notables on this. i have some bios that were to be put into a website too, but again, it's stuff from the later cripples, not the early days. i didn't start using the name jason until late 2001, might have even been early 2002. i had originally joined as syc0tik. i wish i would've saved more stuff like this for posterity's sake.

The next season...

This league season (October 3, 2001 - March 10, 2002) was called TWT - Trench Wars Tournaments. There were three ladders: TWDT, TWBT, and TWJT. The operators were Poid and Overstrand. If a squad challenges and wins, the squad gets 2 points. If the squad challenges and loses, the defender gets 2 points.
The end of the regular season was followed by a series of playoffs between tied squads which would determine final rankings.

We finished:
TWBT in 2nd place with 22 points
TWJT in 2nd place with 24 points
TWDT in 6th place with 18 points
Blue indicates wins and red indicates losses.

Lotsa news for this weekend. I couldn't make it for the TWBL with Commodore Army on Saturday... but I didn't really have to show. And unfortunately, almost all of the Commodores felt the same. :P Due to not having enough players (only three), they forfeited the match, bringing us to the top of the pyramid. I talked with their captain later, and he said that most of his members forgot to check their e-mail. They forfeited a TWDL on that same day for the same reason. This has been a problem with lots of squads lately...

On Sunday we played Scrotal's Horde in TWDL (ugh.. damn warbirds). First round, they thoroughly wooped us. Then Wix, Adroit, Hurk, Riven, and Khisanth came to the rescue in the second round to tie the match at 1-1. In the third round we started off very well, holding a lead of 10. But halfway through the round we somehow slipped and they picked up on it. We lost the match 1-2, bringing us down to the bottom level of the dueling pyramid. Warbirds = BANNED.

In other news, several of our members have left and/or gone inactive, leaving us with 15 active members. This means we will soon be recruiting to fill the empty spots. Please remember that if we want you, we will come to you. Try not to pester Wix and me about joining if you can help it, but we would appreciate those kickass pub players bringing themselves to our attention. :)

Okay, lots of news for today...

Our match with Paladen on Sunday was disappointing. We were in tip top shape, but Paladen apparently had problems with attendance. They were down 1 person for the beginning of the match, and some of them even quit before the middle of the game... although I must commend those who stayed or came back into the game to play with us. We won by about 100k, of course. GG Paladen... we'll see you again on the pyramid if you climb up behind us.

Score reset today! Once the folks over at iNET update the billing server score archives for the last scoring period I will update the squad records here. BadBoyz shattered Wix's 1.4 million point record, and YoMama!!!'s 8900 kills. I think it'll be a long while before anyone beats BadBoyz's new squad records. Geez, good job you sillyhead. :)

In sad news, Hurk has left TW and SS, so he is obviously not with our squad anymore... Farewell Hurk, it was a hell of a lot of fun playing with you bud. :(

Since our TWBL with Paladen is being postponed to next Saturday, we played -FINAL- in TWDL.

I've never seen a match like this in my entire life. First round, we lost by 5 deaths. The second round was VERY intense, I went 8-3 and most everyone else was around 1:1, some below, some above.

-FINAL- tied us in the second round! Right after the second round, my modem failed and my phone line got messed.. I spent 5 minutes fixing it and rebooting, and in the process banged my knee on the metal bracket on this keyboard tray (GAH.. it was bleeding). When I got back in, I saw that we were playing another round against -FINAL- and I found out that we had, indeed, tied them. As a result, the 2nd round was being replayed.

This was also a very intense round, and as it neared the end, each team had 2 players left (Defender & Incog vs. Hannes II and Ephemeral). Hannes was at 8, Ephemeral at 9, Defender at 9, Incog at 4. Hannes and Ephemeral managed to knock Incog down to 6 deaths making the score 47-45. They outran us by the time the round ended. A few minutes later, Phyre noticed that he only had NINE deaths! Robo had specced him at nine, so it was 47-46!

We lost the match 0-2, by one death, after replaying the 2nd round due to a tie. God hates cripples. :)

On a lighter note, we also played an unofficial TWBL against Commodore Army. What a twisted match that turned out to be. They had a levi and almost kept base from us for the first 5 minutes. How they got the levi greened in the first place was questionable, as you're not supposed to start a base match with a greened levi (ref has to *shipreset, resetting all bounties). But they had the levi attach BEFORE the ref could shipreset, so the levi would stay on anyway. I base terr'd, and we had one too many javs, making it a terrible game for us. We won 90k-20k. Terrible!

Yeah, what a fun season that year. In warbirds, I know we could have finished better, we just couldn't get a consistent showing of our warbirds. But when we all showed, we were a handful for any squad.

I have archived the original 2000, 2001 and 2002 Crips web sites. I think Phyre and Louis did the first two sites and then I took over and saved off the older site revisions. I'll spend a bit more time with it I can pull it all together into something comprehensive.

I last talked to Wix about 2 years ago but have been trying to get in touch with him to see if he would squadgrant me so we could bring Cripples back. If anyone has a way to contact him please let me know. (Not getting any feedback form his old email addy, wonder if Polix/Mom could jump in here and help out?). Might be cool for TW if Crips came back as the fun squad it used to be.
