I am puzzled. Why was I banned? I was playing a flagging match in TW pub 0 as a spider and shark (mostly spider). I didn't TK. I didn't type anything. I wasn't warned, as far as I know, although I often miss text when focusing on the match. I have been playing since 2000, and I've never been in trouble except one time, years ago, our whole LAN (5 comps at the time) were playing TW together and the resulting lag was wrongly interpreted as something more nefarious. That was cleared up and absolved as soon as I emailed Rudy about it. I was the only one on TW from our home LAN today, so I doubt that is the issue. We have a cheaper DSL service from techsavvy these days, and it does get cranky at times. When that happens, I usually log off for my own peace of mind, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with my connection today.

Three months is a long time. What could I have possibly done to warrant such action? Please let me know what this is about, Thanks.

Not gonna happen, staff doesn't usually sell out other staffers, which is understandable. If Stab sent them a message that means shit is getting handled, you'll be unbanned in a couple of days tops if it really is a mistake.

I see. Well hopefully, you might be in error. It's not a sell-out if I know the name of my accuser and of what I stand accused. I wasn't asking for anyone to take sides; I just wanted to know why this happened to me. In this new staff era of greater transparency, I was sincerely hoping that these most basic tenets of transparent justice could be afforded.

Oh they'll tell you the alleged charge but usually not who did the ban. You could also be caught under someone else's ban, which is gay.

Yes, M_M God, I did email twbans@gmail.com, with the same paragraph that I posted here. And sure enough, I did get a reply. I won't give the name, out of respect for the process, but his accusations were very disquieting.

Keep in mind, I have had this account for over ten years, and I don't cheat or make trouble.

Now, all of a sudden, in something of a Kafkaesque / 1984 satire, I stand accused of being some sort of nefarious cheater that is evading some eariler ban on some other account of which I know nothing. The ban stands until either I can prove (or he can prove to himself) that I am not this unidentified ban-evading cheater. How exactly am I supposed to do that?

I would honestly like to know why he would even have reason to suspect me of such awfulness in the first place; I would like to understand why, please. I would also like to see justice done. I stand accused of things I did not do, but with no way to disprove. How exactly do I prove that I'm not somebody else? How can anyone do that?

I have no idea what evidence he is using to support his accusations; he only vaguely alluded to "some minor interesting things" that led him to his conclusions about me. I have no other information from him at this time, other than the fact that I remain banned until somehow it is proven that I am not this ban evading cheater that he seeks.

Judging by the info I can see, you're clearly not the person you're suspected of being, but then again the bang ops have access to a bit more info than I do.

I'll put in my 2 cents with the ops but I can't guarantee anything.

And please find the time instead to fix this. I started off very polite about this, but I am starting to get a little miffed, now that I see that the two people I need to fix this are, in fact, online, but battling Kthx in a war of words, instead of fixing my ban. You see, I always try to assume the best of people. I figured they were either offline, or too busy to attend to this immediately. Now I see that I am mistaken. Apparently fighting with Kthx on the forums takes priority over fixing unjust bans.

One thing you'll learn is that nothing here happens immediately. Sit back and relax and be glad that you have a guy like stabwound helping you out, but it'll still take time to wade through the levels of official bullshit.
