and to keep competition in everyone's mind, have a spash image LVZ display the current top 10 ranking in elim display every time you enter the arena, so everyone's reminded there is a ranking system.

I enter the baseelim arena about 50-100 times a day. I don't think I want a splash image appearing every single time. I don't enter arenas with splash images because they are annoying as fk. Furthermore, I remoeved the splash image when I open continuum with the retarded thunderbolts and red cloud that makes no sense.

Since we enter the arena in spec, have it spec to a part of the map that displays names. Resolves the splash screen issue and exposes people to the ranking system.

But could that be automatically updated? Would you not have to upload a new map EVERY time a new person got put into the "top 10"?

I don't know, but that's a good point. I'm not sure if that would work without having to update the map every time, unless it is a pretty simple procedure to do so? Wouldn't it also depend on how often the ranks are updated? Are we going under the assumption that the rank would be updated in real time? If so, what would be the difference in difficulty between changing the splash screen and changing the list of names in the arena itself if updated that often?

Or, if that seems too arduous, then have it display the names of the top 3 to everyone in arena along with elim welcome message. And have a command to pm bot so that if the person wants to look at top 10 at any time in the arena they can just type !topten to bot or something. I don't know how annoying it would be for it to display a bit more information to players every time they enter the arena. I know it doesn't bother me to have the bot tell me the information on the current game in pub every time I go to pub, but I don't know if it is the same for everyone else. Or, we could have both. Change the map to overall top 10 once a month or so and have the list idea above? Or is this just too much ranking? Just throwing ideas out there.

You're right, tourny is dead and I like this idea. Have this as a weekend option in elim/belim to test it out?

Back in the day when it wasn't split up into two arenas, it forced people to fight in both wb and javelin. As you can imagine random picks were extremely annoying. When it was split I think elimination lost much prestige. The one thing that gets me is that while improvements and new ideas were put into effect in elim, belim got the short end of the stick. The current voting system has bugs in both arenas, or I should say unfinished. I've noticed a lot more people taking part in elimination and that is encouraging.

I think it would be unique if you could not only vote for the ship/deaths but also the style of arena or base + game type. I think it might even be a good idea to start from scratch and a develop a totally new elimination arena based on player ideas and voting.
Perhaps even merge belim and elim and start something fresh and interesting, instead of having 2 elim arenas.

So heres all my ideas- my list will get bigger (though noone will take any interest anyway):

1)Would be great to have ?go javs and ?go baseelim merged. It would work like this- keep the baseelim competition going as normal but for those waiting to play can simply play in ?go javs base (located in the same arena). When a new game of baseelim starts- Bot will give them the option to play. So u can play 24/7. Same could apply for elim.

2) An additional idea could be to actually merge baseelim + elim, they both run at the same time. So basically u pick which one u want to play and wait. Mayb freq 1= baseelim freq 2=elim

3)Allow teaming option in elim/baseelim- solo/2 players per team/2 teams etc

4)Introduce pub money into baseelim/elim for each winner.

5)Vote which base to play out of a selection of 3 in each elim/baseelim

6)Adding a mini-game of hunt.

7)When someone is on a killing spree of 10+ it will advertise this to everyone on trenchwars (creates more interest and gives people more motive to try).

Well I really don't see how it could b annoying if a majority of people likes go javs, a majority of people likes baseelim... In what way was it annoying if u had a choice? I'm just curious coz I don't remember them merging ?go javs with baseelim and I really like this idea.

I'm assuming it failed in the past because it was not needed- go javs was popular then. Now its dead- so i'm guessing it will work.

All of these ideas are great, but the team elim idea is pure gold. Seeing as how ?go baseelim is about the only arena javers play these days, why not let us play it the way we want? Give us the option to vote for: 1. Solo 2. Teams of two 3. Teams of three 4. etc...Way worse ideas/options have been added in (weasel). Adding hunt is also money :grin:

Having 2/3 vs 2/3 would be amazing! I'm sure that would bring back some of the "belim squads" we had a couple years ago.

I like the idea of hunt if it were a minigame of sorts. Still b/elim to 10, but you get pubbucks everytime you kill your target, and a bonus if you were the most successful at doing so. I think this would be more in the spirit of belim/new than just adding in the regular hunt game in the belim arena.

Another idea I had would be to have several different arenas on the map, and let people vote on which one they want to play in. As long as the entrances are all at the same height it would work with only changing the spawn coordinates right? And for that matter, why the hell cant we get an arena in this joint we can fly down into, why is it always 'up'?!

Add some of those walls that open and close randomly to create holes that you can only shoot through sometimes. Could make things interesting.

First of all, made this account just to support these ideas. I would love to be able to be able to jav freely when im out of belim or just coming online to find that they just started a 10 live belim with 9 players in or so. The teaming idea in belim is also funny as I could see it work out okay, but what would be really great is just being able to jd other squads in 2v2/3v3 leagues, would this be really hard to add? I bet it would increase the activity on TW alot since just 2 friends alone could jd anytime they please if this were to become an active league.
