Usually that happens either to a pixel dodge, lag or if the player was in spec when the mines were placed then he wouldn't see them if he entered the game. Or they could be cheating.

here's one way:

player Y leaves the arena
player X lays mines to location X
player Y returns to the arena and rams the mines, although he can't see them :fear:

.. or simply by lagging, aka flying close to the mine but not hitting it. it'll explode sometimes on other players screens. :wub: (my secret technique that i've mastered!)

actually being in spec doesn't matter, unless he was looking at A1 when the guy mined.

basically there's some weird radius after which you will stop seeing the bombs/mines that get placed / shot. :fear:

e.g. if you're speccing flag room, your client will still register the mines that are placed in lower base even if you can't see them. but if they were placed around the under safe (yes, that lowest safe thing) then you wouldn't see them. :fear:

nothing beats the feeling of flying towards a bomb, then stopping before it hits and see it as a miss. then everyone being like "WTF, CHEATER" or "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL" <- gg.

Its actually much easier than that. Have someone lay a mine, get in a ship, fly towards the mines and attach to a terr or warp at the very last second, on your screen the mines are still there and still kill you but to everyone else in the arena you blew the mines up and they are gone.

Amazing that nobody knows this.

that one is similar to the lag thing we (or i) pointed out. basically the same thing happens there, because of client lag the mine will explode on everyone's screen but yours. :fear:

I've also rammed one or two mines as a WB right next to the shark that laid them and survived with a couple hundred energy and EMP'd.
