Hi Everyone,

I would like to talk as a player who already played this game (i am Kings, King's sword), just came back from a 4 years absence) and is handing out his opinion about the game. I know i will be getting a lot fo you angry, but i'm just someone who played the game in the 2000's and feel like talking about my experience. I know that this post can actually be dangerous for the long life of trench wars, but i just feel it's already dead. It's the way life goes, some things just die from being old. You don't want them to die because you just don't want to (DUH!), but they do, and they do it slowly because you hang to it really hard (i know what i'm talking about, i'm just getting out of a hard relationship which lasted 10 years). You can react however you like, i won't give a damn about it. I just viewed the new player guide on the www.trenchwars.org website and feel like it's complete bullshit. A new player don't need a video to explain him how to make everything, and he won't search for it unless it is explicit in the game when he logs on. Don't get me wrong tho, i love fieryfire (even tho he doesn't know a shit about me) and Pio who was one of my good subspace friend. These guys work hard for trenchwars and it is all in their favour. Those guys deserve a lot of respect for what they did. It is sincerly honorable.

First, the game just can't compete with the newest technology. you probably already knew that, but i just had to point out the obvious.

Second, it's getting tiring. I came back, talked with my old buddies, but i already made discussions with them, and i've got nothing else to say to them. '' Hey, how are you, what have you been doing for the past 4 years? oh great. We could do something if i get pass your city (probably not, but let's hope so). I'm a hockey fan, i talk to them about hockey, and that's about it. I talk hockey with my buddies in real life, and it's just about the same. Personnaly, i prefer guys who want to hit me in the face because i tell them their favorite player sucks! but that's just me, right? :P


Third, you can play twl on sunday how hard you want, you won't be getting this game alive any further. you know I love you royst, and i love the dedication you put into it, but there just isn't enough new players coming in, and you just can't fight the fact that this game is old. New player socming in are those who come from another zone. Marketing? my ass... it's not working at all if i judge from who is getting on Tenure. They are mostly people who played in EG, hz and such. It's going to die wheter you try to get new players to get addicted to the game or not. I read the forums, and there isn't a single post that says it as clearly as mine. I know a lot of you think just like me, but don't want to admit it. I just feel that by writing this post, i will simply unhang myself from this burden, and be able to go out with peace in my mind. It's not the best post ever, probably one of my worst ( and i've done a lot of bad posts in the past in this forum), but it's coming right from the heart.

finally, my message to all of you would be to keep contact with all your subspace friend you really liked, and move on to the next thing. I think i can't waste time anymore coming on this game and waste cpu (even if it's 100 mhz of cpu) for the satisafaction i get.

You might be right about the game dying, that much has been obvious to anyone who has watched the decline in quality and quanity of playerbase during the last 10 years or so, but that isn't really the point in what we are doing with the marketing campaign stuff. My thought is id rather try everything we can to keep the game alive another 3 years than to just let it die. I am getting old, I have a family, and I don't have that much time for this game let alone ANY online game and that being said this will probably be the last online game I actually play to the point of caring about what happens to this game, and I wouldn't mind being able to still login and play the game occasionally, getting a few players here and there and hopefully extending the life of the game for even another year or two is better than the alternative of just shutting the game down right now and saying fuck it, too many people have spent too much time making this game awesome whether making events, coding bots, doing websites and statistics, or just being generally cool people and making the community great. So fuck it, if I waste 20 minutes writing a review on a gaming site instead of posting a 3 paragraph redundant essay I still feel better about my use of time in the end, maybe you should consider helping out instead of giving up.

This isn't a revelation. Yeah, players tend to move on with their lives as they grow older and get into new responsbilities, thus a natural decline in it's population---earth shattering news. I know that's what happened with me. But to encourage people to just move on from a game because of that, is just retarded and selfish. If you're not going to help the cause of the decline of the game, then get lost?

Also, mentioning techonology of this game vs others, again, earth-shattering news! The players who have stuck around are the players who enjoy the teamwork aspect of the game, and the friends they've made in this game over the years.

The developing company, Netdevil, was taken over completely by Gazillion during the production of its sequel, Jumpgate: Evolution which had its development terminated (sued) when it was almost done, by Codemasters, which were the publishers. Jumpgate has been around for as long as Subspace has (around 1999 to present). Currently Gazillion has fired all development (netdevil) staff, and is now just keeping the servers up until further notice. Nobody can create new accounts, but those who had accounts can renew their subscriptions without being charged and play it until it's officially dead. So sad to see a great game die out like this.
