Staffers being lazy and taking up space is nothing new. I first became a <ZH> around 04 or 05, I don't remember, but it was the same story then as it is now and I suspect laziness was the same before that. After I ran TWD for a year I left of my own volition, that's the responsible thing for people to do when you don't have the time or drive to contribute.

As for your story PH, sorry to hear about that, I know I wasn't staff when that happened, I don't even recognize most staffers these days, including Smods. I know you did an excellent job with TWL and hopefully you don't take it personal, staff in this game has its ups and downs. It's the same story in the real world, I'm sure you know this.

IMHO, they are typically kissing the ass of higher staff on staff chat or they're power-tripping.

But don't get me wrong there are many hard-working fair-minded people there too, and all devs I've met are great and do not fit in the above category.

Everyone in the game contributes! Even if you're not on staff, you contribute by simply playing! Even the trolls, the racists, the teamkillers and other trouble makers. Sure, they're a pain in the ass but we have means to deal with these things. And when someone is eventually banned for causing too much trouble, I personally hope they come back and fill in the empty space that they left behind and give us staffers something to do besides playing cause lets face it, spaceship pew pew just doesn't cut it anymore. At least not for me.

jesus fucking christ this thread is a pile of retardation and i am ashamed i havent seen it earlier. soupero i love you? bro but the_motherfucking_paul does and/or does/has done alot for this zone. it's hard to really judge who does and contributes what these days because the community is so small that good changes are received with as much enthusiasm as, well, bad changes. but even adopting the pessimistic view, the_paul has done absolutely nothing to harm the zone. that's the same story with alot of staffers these days, alot of their efforts are too little too late. i see this repeated cry to host games, i don't show up to alot of hosted events but thats because i rarely see more than 10 players in an event unless the twd bots are down like i believe was posted earlier in this thread, when you have the same few people playingg events (fu bietje) it kinda gets old. i'm drunk enough to even suggest mandatory TWD downtimes, but how that could be implemented would be so perversely different from the utopian vision inmy head that there's no way it could work in real life online(?).

i hope this doesnt come off as a the_paul kiss-ass post because why? would i want 2 kiss his hairy italian ass, i'm not a fan of snowballing. its just that to say that staff doesnt host events is retarded because they always do its just that noone ever shows up. it's hard to be optimistic about this as more and more people disappear, and it's even starting to show in the forums. but hot damn you can't blame the staff for not trying, i definitely think they try and i definitely think the zone is being run just fine. alot of the problems people are having are outside staff's control unless some1 here can get elected and make playing subspace mandatory and therefore way more populated and therefore needing all the complex staff/management structure. i hate to say this but i think qualifications now are more based on "who gives a fuck" rather than any skills/talent.

Staff has always been like this, as far as I know.
There are always a few ER's who host alot and most of them doing a little. Same with mods taking calls.
Blaming the_paul for doing nothing is dumb. The guy doesnt like hosting, so whats wrong with that. No one says u have to host as staffer. But u gotta do other stuff then. The guy has done alot. Like BanG stuff, TWL etc.

Currently I dont see many ERs hosting. I only see JM <ZH>, Bietje, Tiny, Best, Reckfull hosting. Rest is just afking all month and on the last day they are like 'SHIT I GOTTA HOST ELSE I WILL BE AXED'. Staff will never change unless Upperstaff changes. Like ph mentioned there is alot of crappy guys on upperstaff who are just powertripping and ass licking. If u say something 'mean' about them on staff chat as lower staff u are doomed and u will be axed.

but, yeah. staffers job isn't limited to hosting. you don't have to host if you don't like to host, that's all there is to it. there has been lazy staffers ever since the creation day of this zone, and that will be the case in the future as well. heck, those deadwoods on staff occasionally do useful stuff too!
