So now that it's established that most staff are far from "busy", they completely change the subject now.

Like its fun for a new player to get trolled all over the place. I wouldnt stick with the game for 10 mins if I kept getting trolled by anyone.
Look in the mirror before u blame others.

is it just me or does anyone else keep thinking 'why does staff even need to do anything, besides making sure the game is running smoothly?'
more specifically: why would any staff member ever have to do anything for people like soupero?

You don't feel like continuing because you have nothing else to tell or sum up, there is none.

Guest repliedSince everyone is writing essays:
As the head trainer Smod in Trench Wars, each day begins with me logging on to a wall of ?messages. Most of them require me to take action so I spend some time from the moment I log in dealing with situations such as the statuses of current <ZH>s reported to me from my trainers to various other things from my superiors all the way down to the <ZH>s.
Some of those ?messages are notices from my superiors informing me of newly hired <ZH>s. My job is to make sure that each new staffer coming in gets the proper information that can allow them to do what they're expected of doing in staff properly. This requires an orientation to loosely cover the basics of staff conduct and procedures. I will personally spend a few hours at most with each newly hired <ZH> or newly promoted/rehired <ER>/MOD just to cover the most basic yet vital material involving their duties at their position. Of course catching up to them is the real challenge as this is a world wide game so I've recruited a handful of Trainers, who I personally manage as well, to reach out to those who I never even see because we basically live/log on during different times of the day.
I also have to keep track of each <ZH> as they age in experience on staff keeping a keen eye on each one as they progress. I make decisions on whether they've applied enough effort so that they can eventually move on to positions that require more responsibilities and trust such as bot usage or to be simply removed from staff for inactivity- basically saying if you're not contributing enough, then there is no need for you on staff.
I also spend a great deal of time organizing all this information. I keep these things written down somewhere allowing me to keep track of everything such as how active a <ZH> is, how much they have hosted, which of my trainers are working with who, and whether any of them are putting in enough work to remain at their position on staff. I keep this information as accurate and updated as possible allowing this information to be accessible to my trainers and my superiors so they can all be properly informed as well.
Other ?messages that I give my immediate attention to come from <ER>/<ZH>s and my trainers who want to be most involved. That would be <ER>/<ZH>'s questions about their progress in training to my trainer's asking me for my approval of certain actions with <ZH>s. I try to deal with each one as thoroughly and personally as I possibly can. I try to avoid dealing with multiple people at the same time but I've found myself on multiple occasions to be PM chatting with 2-4 people at once.
All of which I mentioned is just a portion of what I do on a daily basis when I log in. Not even mentioning dealing with any cheaters or requests for help. Not even mentioning any attempts to host an event or provide any advice or assistance to other staffers. Not even mentioning other duties that require my attention as a trainer. Not even mentioning writing essays like this and actively being a part of this fine community.
Oh and sometimes I play wbduel/javduel/elim.

I dont think this game should aim for "growth" freezing the current base or lessning the current decline seems more realistic :P
Also while I realize that is true, para, mudslinging publically is never a good idea. Even if you are right (which you are from your own perspective and the other guy will disagree with) it will turn them against you.
Anyway it seems to me you need to do any of the following:
-Make a forum pirvate for people working on the site to post in
-Once someone agreed to help work on it make it a written document
-Form tasks and deadlines for these tasks
-Concretize these tasks as much as possible
-Make people responsible for one or more individual task(s)
-Offer small financial compensation for hours spent or the people that worked the most or for the most shitty jobs, w/e
Theres more but this is what I could think of from the back of my head. I dont know if you've been doing it already but there you have it. Oh and put these documents on the forum for everyone (included in the project) to see. Except the financial compensation bit, no one needs to see that.

wow this thread has turned horrendous
a lot of mudslinging, not a lot of things being done.
Also, I don't like what 24 did in indirectly throwing people under the bus, but those saying it's his fault are dead wrong. Yeah it sucks the site is taking a long time, but no need to get hostile. 24 is still putting more time into this game than 99% of everyone who posted here (you and WZ should duke it out). I think we all need to take a step back and realize that. The guy has put in work in nearly all facets of the zone. As "ignorant" as it may be for me to say, I don't know what the rest of staff is doing. Yeah there a few here and there that we know for sure are contributing, but I could name a few that I have no fucking clue what they do. 24 is someone we can for sure say is actually doing something.
Enough with the finger pointing. I'm pissed too that the site is taking long, but how fair is it for me to incessantly bitch about it? If you don't like how long its taking, then why don't you help out?

k so i feel like writing an essay but ill try hard on keeping it short...
1st: soup, step up and feel free to apply for staff and host if you think you think thats all about it.
2nd: as many others have already said, theres more going on than just hosting, read above
-> however, i agree, that we need a couple more or effective ERs who host constantly, and not just 2-3 days a month. but as far as i know, we are working on that.
3rd: as for paul and the "lower staff doesnt know whats going on in upper staff and will never know" -> i dont know what your guys business looks like, if u need assistance, if you dont want any other help, if thats some secret stuff (...) i just dont know so i cant judge it. but saying that you dont even want the transparency but instead a gap between staff and uperstaff, makes me sad... but w/e, not my business.
4th: as for the donations... i agree with the most, that some sort of constant updates would get us some more smiling faces and some less hostility, especially against you 24. but if it takes u 1 hour per week to write an "update the current status" than i guess thats not worth it, but something like more transparency (yes, transparency yet again) would be nice. i like that u updated us on the current design of the site, tho that was like 1 month ago.
theres people you can rely on and who do far more than expected and theres others, i learned that pretty fast, but i guess thats not going to change.
i bet theres yet some more to mention, but i said ill keep it "short"

ph stop trolling me your not even a staff member. i have nothing against you *ignored (feel free to stalk me though)
Only thing that can help is if 24's website plan or any other plan (staff always seems to be throwing everything else out the fucking door though) can get more players else we can watch our population go to 500-400-300-250-200- until the only people left are the addicted people who have put so much time into continuum that they dont know what else to do.

Organizing things can take a lot of time, and needs to be done properly or else you will get project that, even though they only take limited time, it can last over one and a halve year before they are finished. Kuch Kuch
