I feel flattered (Zeus) that you recognized what I wrote. At the time I posted that thead I felt ridiculed, like most people thought it was completely useless or still do. But then there was some people who thought it was good and could relate to me.
I was basically just crying out for help and trying my best to figure the game out, in the end I got answers out of people and evolved my knowledge of the game. Now when I look back I feel sort of silly and can understand some of the response I received.
By all means you have permission to use my material and correct it.(make sure).. I made mistakes with ship devices?? I got mixed up with what ships had. I mostly flew warbird and didn't experiment with the other ships enough. Like doh, I wrote Sharks have cloak??? Yeah maybe in another zone..heh...
*Also I didn't take notice of the left and right side screen (what you have devices) symbols. (Because I flew WB all the time.heh.)
I sent emails to both Trenchwars faq and Subspace Zone strategy website for a ship device grid suggestion to give new zoners a big picture view of the zone settings. They aggreed and will do in the near future when time is plentiful.
I think you did an awesome job on the strategies, by giving terms to common base strategies and explaining damn straight. Also it was smart to insert those gameplay screen pics.
Recently, I have noticed in the pub basing, a lot of people are using "CRINING"... instead of cramming in the flag room, they our maintaining a line of defence at lower base entrances if they can afford it.heh... Now I know what you more experienced basers call these strategies (I just never gave any name to them before)
-One drawback to CRINING is that some players are so silly that they forget about levy bombs at lower base barricade.
-Also some players who never use strategy in the game, just run the lower base entrance in a suicidal fashion.... and then giveup and goto another arena.. hoping players like (Talon/Daze the WBs) aren't in lower base area...heheh
I think minor CRAMMING is still good for backup defences. But when a terrier pilot tells attach to flag room... I think...oh no boring flag room fighting... No I rather fly quickly to lower base rear and take out enemy terriers and javs..heh..
I have come to a conclusion if you are guy like me (Who only really plays Warbird and wana do basing..):
Warbirds in flagroom (CRAMMING) is totally foolish, it might be ok. for frantic (urgent) flag room defence...but totally boring game play if there is light lower base enemy assaulters #s.
I came up with this... Warbird harass enemy in lower base when they are trying to assault. I have been effective in targeting primary ships in assault (Terriers and Javs and Sharks). Also I type "Git that terrier!!!" and see a frantic lil red ship go crazy in lower base.."Oh no they are after me..." heh... rofl......
Some basers are so silly...they have no ships to defend their javs... most warbird pilots can take out javs... Rarely I see a good Jav'er take out an experienced WB pilot.
Jav'ers like BobR, Snoopac, PureOwnage, FirePheonix... others.. very good and wise Javelin pilots.
Jav assault ships need those spiders/lancasters/warbirds to defend their rears or they'll become cooked orange turkies.
My conclusion, if I use a ship in the game, make sure your team mates know what is going on. Like I would never use a Jav for assault, if my team didn't have base assault defender ships, its suicide. I know some Jav'er will say FU, my jav can take out anything... but you have to admit it is nice to concentrate on your base assault shots, than worrying about some silly WB chasing you.
Same goes with leviathans, your taking your chances without escort... or even with these silly setting changes.
Leviathans should be given atleast 2 repels on top of their current settings. These repels are needed to offset against the recent weasel settings.
For now, if a shark&terrier defend a escort levy (that they need to green up) it might help in this current settings. This way you can repel weasel(or wb snipe) shots and the terrier can take out noob levy hunters and XRADAR....
I could on and on, so many different strategies in this game; But better end here.
Also, I have changed my nick and will no longer use (Cherubim or WiseCherub).... but remember I'm still out there and still love this game.
And now this gives me the opportunity to say something, without worrying about problems. I know some basers would lash out if they read below.
I have never played ELIM-Basing or Divisions Basing... cause usually I can't... so much redtape.. so many limitations... and so many damn spiders..... I spectated for like 15 mins and just went yawn!!!... Pub Basing is way better if you get the right people, but if they are noobs.... boring boring...
They should call this type of basing... STRICT mini-basing.
I wish they had less strict MAXI-Basing... but I guess pubs will suffice for now. Yes, Squad Maxi-Basing for divisions..etc.. now that would be fun.
oops...there I go again writing another mega long message which could occupy many other threads.; but everything I wrote here is inter-reletated.... heck, we're talking about the full scope of basing.
ps: oops..couldn't resist to add.. In Pub Arenas there is two conflicting styles of game play... Duelers and Basers.... heh... I have noticed this, and I think it is screwing up gameplay for both sides. One arena, had no one in base... it was like an arena full of spawners and duelers... and the rare baser.... asking where is everyone??? I myself alternate.... I love to duel and base.... so what ever I'm in the mood for.
THE END.
