Pub needs to be set to pubchat=0 to help regain control over the base play. I have just realized that there is way to many people having "chat room" discussions and it is affecting game play.
It's human nature to be nosey and read, which compells people to reply.
stopping people from engaging in basing.
It's not the LeviTerrs which are to Trenchwars that air is to breathing. They actually create a needed cohersion to base play. Adding an extra challenge to basing. Not only do you need control of base, you also need to control the outside around base. to maintain full and total control. Helping stimulate the in game play. They add to and not take from.
To help solve the complaints that will follow. A chat can be made for those that wish to talk. That chat can be adverted to reach players that don't know it exist. So if you prefer to chat, you have it, if you prefer to strickly base with out interuption you have it.
This also allows a simple command to be a part of or be removed from, with out having to revert to making a permanent ignore text or using ?ignore *tickedname.
It's my belief that this will help eliminate distractions to game play with out totally removing the detractors from the game. Making great use of the "create ?chat" command.
It may also help with spammers, as they will have a limited captured audience. It may decrease the thrill of disruption. With all that's said, it's not a fool proof plan, but it could work.
