Hosting UFC events

Repeating UFC format for staff who don't understand how to host it. Sick of going to javufc then finding a spawnfest instead of actual UFC.

- Choose 2 captains, one per team
- Let them pick some ppl, then random the rest
- Let caps choose a player, those players 1v1
- Winner stays in, loser cap picks another player
- Team wins when the other team are all dead

yeah i remember UFC being a fun event - it's slow paced and not everyones idea of fun but you wait your turn and watch some 1vs1 intense one kill action and then choke or win yourself If i wasn't in the mood to wait to be picked then i didn't go the event and spammed about in pub.

it then turned into being hosted all the time but it was more often a spawnfest - or advertising ?go UFC and then asking what kill count ppl want becuase ppl began to expect spawnfest ...

this was easy to host and kept the <ER> stats good

personally i think (if it's not allready been done) duplicate the map and rename superspawnfestspammerfuntimes and only be allowed to host UFC in UFC

Can't agree more PD and Rab. I never see anymore regular UFC being hosted or hell, the last years. It's 9/10 spawnfest, yeah maybe it's less hassle for the hoster but don't be staff then if you can't go the 'extra mile' for the players that play this game. Thats what staffing is aboiut if you didn't know already.
Spawnfest is a clusterfuck, UFC is a strategic and skillfilled event.

the only bad thing about UFC is the map that lends itself to running. its the nature of 1v1 jav dueling in general though.

as many people like the normal IFC style, there are also alot of people that enjoy the spawnfest style. Perhaps it should be hosted both ways more evenly to accomodate. I don't personally like the UFC style or the spawnfest, but there are always a bunch of players thay request the event. If not for people wanting it, I wouldnt host it at all. I dont normally host events i dont like though, but i try to accomodate the players' requests.

Hi Rab!

Thank you for going over how to host UFC events. First, unfortunately, anyone who has been playing longer than 2 years, knows how to host a proper JavUFC event. Second, as someone who has hosted more JavUFC than any single person on staff, allow me to explain why I oft do spawnfest. It is not a question of laziness, I still am manually speccing many, many people, as well as handling lates, and giving updates mid-game. So, clearly it is not laziness (in fact a normal UFC event would be lazy).

Third (I'll keep this short),UFC takes too long and everyone complains about it.

Fourth, Spawnfest is multi-freq and action packed. This isn't like the old days where UFC was the place to showcase your skills for some of the top squads. It's just a place to goof off.

i actually liked the ufc map a lot more before they broke the spawn settings by accident and never fixed them
