Mandatory health insurance, like mandatory car insurance, leads to corporations ripping people off and is always an abuse of power by the government, which is controlled by the corporations who stand to benefit. No government ever does anything for the benefit of the people it claims to represent.

I've never played any leagues, and I have no interest in them.

New players should always be able to choose what they want to do. Why the fuck would a complete noob want to be in a league, anyway? He doesn't even know what buttons to press to make the ship move.

Exactly . Though there was no need to address that god awful analogy.

No thank you, I'm not in a twd squad and I never want to join one again. It have been years since I cared about twd or twl, so why would I want to be forced to join some shit squad?

thread title keeps reminding me of this song

1:Rasaq> i scrub really hard with toilet paper so little pieces of it get stuck to my anus hair and then later on when im watching tv i like to pull them out slowly because it feels pretty good

1:Mutalisk> heard that n1111ga okyo got some DSLs

Paradise> No names but there's actually a black man in the arena right now.

            Jones> MAAAAN1111GA UCHIHA

Paradise> NO NAMES. NOT A SINGLE NAME.....but 3/6 of the players on Force are of a certain descent. I will not go any further.

              Dry your tears, Bono.

              1) Don't fret, I doubt the squad would be as shit as Wingmasters. (Your words, not mine.)
              2) You wouldn't be forced to join any squad, it would be your TWD status. Tagging the squad and joining chat are optional.
              3) To appease the crusty duvet contingent, perhaps an "Opt Out" tickbox could be implemented.
You come at the King, you best not miss.

I can confirm that morh is insanely emo/bad. he played a jd with me on dark about 4 years ago, negged badly and rage quit / haven't seen him play a match since

zidane is an expert in knowing about players. he only needs to play one (1) jd to get all the necessary details about you

also, wingmasters was awesome when we beat thunder with like 13 people on the roster who knew each other irl

Like a new player would know about, or care about, what their twd status is. So they would not join your pro squad anyways, making this whole idea useless.

So much like the current GOP position on Obamacare we are going to ignore the problem and destroy TW because implementing a new system for getting new players fast-tracked into competitive leagues would destroy TW

because there's an imaginary group of people who are SUBSPACE TEA PARTIERS and starting pre-registered on a squad is INTERNET HITLERISM

but all the people i see in twd arenas begging to be added, wanting to play with a squad, and being ignored by superior, elite veterans such as myself - these must be the "evil socialist freeloaders" so let's ignore all these real, valid desires to get engaged in TW without having to overcome a serious newb-veteran gap and instead focus on the imaginary problems of ORWELLIAN IP TRACKING and FASCISTIC SQUADMONGERING
                      NOSTALGIA IN THE WORST FASHION

                      internet de la jerome

                      because the internet | hazardous

Again, unlike Obamacare in the real world, this might actually work in TW. My only concern is people might not ?squadjoin regardless of what squad theyre thrown in

The analogy does support the fact that you can’t really mandate humans to always ‘do the right thing’.

If a lot of us got someone we know to try the installing SS, if a lot of us didn’t flame, spam, kill macro and otherwise hassle newer players, if a lot of us would be willing to play on squads with newer players and try to help them, it would help a lot with propping up the sagging population.
But IMO mandating new squads with auto-assigned players in them would only be helpful if you have leaders in each squad who drive the sqaud forward.

I'm probably the most recent person in this thread to try TWD after being a full-time pubber for years. So maybe I can throw in my two cents since it is still pretty fresh in my head.

Hmmm, what was the main thing that changed me from a full-time pubber???

Lets see what was it ...

                            - Coddling new players (who have played more than a day) by pretending like pub should be their whole world (you can't run out of lives there!)

                            - Remaining uninformed about the biggest hook the game has to offer (TWD/TWL) that the tutorial couldn't really ever do justice. (you gotta exp it) and acting like giving them the opportunity is to try it right away is Cancer

                            - Feeling like the only option for making friends is by talking to Tower or Hellokitty. (or all those riveting, high-brow conversations you see there)

                            - Thinking the games ultimate skill/challenges only involve killing/using/running from LT's (bc they're always in pub)

                            - Wondering how fast I can uninstall the game just because I was given an opportunity to try something new when I'm already new. (we all did it once)

Oh wait ... it was NONE of those things.
I stopped doing the "pub-only" thing when I finally learned about/was accepted onto/experienced being on a squad and TWD. After that I logged onto the game more, talked in chat more, played a million squad duels, tried all the other arenas, and was encouraged to try ships I was more uncomfortable with (and now love), but most of all it was a fun learning experience.
(AND even though I went 0-10 (or close) in all my squadduels ... I didn't uninstall the game, completely the opposite.)

Maybe this would also a fantastic new way for the new players to make friends, and actually enjoy the community. (probably would have quit by now if that didn't happen)

Consider this: they wouldn't just be a random new player who enters the game (and first talks to staff for the basics) then is murdered by twenty 15-yr vets (about 1000x in a row) as they spam pubbux/EXTREMELY disconcerting macros at them until their "esc" and "q" keys are weighed down by the sheer volume of their tears. (sounds SO much better than their cap offering a "gj" after they go 2-10 in twd doesn't it?)

NOO!! They would KNOW that if they logged in again (bc it would be explained) ... they would be part of a TEAM, with their very own captain whom they could easily ask absolutely anything!! (no more begging strangers for help) There would be a sense of belonging, awe/wonder for TWD/TWL, learning from a vet, and all their new/future friends organized onto a team/chat all tidily laid out for them from the get-go.

Corrected for errors. Anyway, I'm sure your experience was fine and dandy, but you sound like one of those born-again nutbags who thinks everyone should be forced into the same whackjob cult they're in.
