You're that confident Turpin? I mean, you were definitely around during the multiple times this was proposed and failed. If it works, it may save this game. I'm not entirely confident that even steam can save it, since gamers are just different these days, but you never know.

Another thing that prob won't work but sounds like a good idea to me if it could: GOG.com (Good Old Games) sells abandonware and old games online, and it's a very popular site. They fix installers and clients for games that wouldn't normally work on next gen PCs (DOS/Win 9x) and then resell them for super cheap, DRM free. We obviously wouldn't be selling the game, but we could use the donation money to have them work out any licensing and client issues (they do that too), and have them offer the game free of charge on their site. Again, i doubt it would work since we aren't selling the game, but you never know. It's worth an email.

thanks for the information, will keep it in mind and see if they are of any use.

to be honest, the odds may be slightly lower due to some issues that we have with SSC, but hopefully this meeting will fix few of them.

turban, kry asked me to set up another one for the steam initiative, which you can find at https://trello.com/b/XfCWRByX/contin...am-integration
i was going to pm you this yesterday, but pms are broken

            1) its an issue tracker, meaning its a way to keep people organized
            2) it can be public, meaning it is excellent for transparency
            3) it can be private as well

if people actually want to this to succeed, they are going to need to set aside their petty personal vendettas for the betterment of this game, as this is probably the last hope for the game before it fades away into oblivion.

and you can make more boards for other things, even private things like internal discussions about reasons to hire/fire people

at this point the important thing is get people actually using it, for any reason, so it doesnt end up getting mismanaged and sitting not being used gathering dust like every other tw thing, eventually getting called a "scam" by dumb people

Brilliant to finally see this happen but like many other people have said, I can't see this happening unless Priitk chimes in with some handy-work. Not sure if anyone in authority actually cares enough to put in the work for such a small return (let's face it, there isn't going to be an influx of players).

TL;DR: yadda yadda yadda, Priitk, upperstaff, etc.

I second the notion to create a Trello, Azov. It will help you stay organized and pickup where left off -- and will inform the players what's going on.

Just happened to stumble across this while checking in on the game. Awesome news! I haven't read into it much, so I don't know if they are still making a new client for this, and/or if the billing system is changing? I know there has been a lot of security issues in the past with the game, and a lot of bad people have access to the biller server. I am not sure if they have access to a specific account, or if there is just a security hole.. but I know there are people who can retrieve any password, whether you have a recovery email set or not. Hopefully those loopholes are being worked on. Another big problem, is the day the game goes live on steam upwards of 50k+ people will probably access the game. This will cripple the current servers. Future donation money should go towards first wave servers, maybe a couple TW servers? There should also be a cap on how many can access a server, or high pop servers will be overloaded. I can't wait to get back into this game with thousands of noobs to own.

Idiots believe pointing out that the reasons for which the Steam thing hasn't worked in the past have not been addressed is "negativity". I'm sure the power of positive thinking will persuade Steam's lawyers to make an exception for us.

So any updates with this? Is Priitk involved? Was the recent server migration a step in the right direction?

There were a few times someone ingame told me to "install through steam", does this help continuum in some way?
