I Just Redownloaded Continuum and It Says I'm Banned til 8-14-2015???????

Why am I banned? I've never been banned for any reason, so I'm wondering why I have a huge ban under the name Exalt in TW???

What kind of horrible staffer fucked something up badly enough to ban a player who hasn't even logged in for who knows how many months? That makes zero sense.

What kind of person bans MORE people than the entire population of a game? This doesn't sound right whatsoever.

Also, Left_Eye was online, but he decided to log off after I PMed and ?messaged him. So what that tells me is he loves taking the time to ban people and catching others in netbans due to that, but doesn't take the time to remove his mistakes.

Alot will be the same person but evading with diff details. russ has about 40 bans alone

Exalt, I think there is some confusion here. Netban means banned on all SSC servers. NOT banning a whole network. The reason to do this is extreme violation of rules (chipo, spreading cheats, ...) or stuff like attempts to continue harassing players in pm from another SSC zone with various names, which evades ?ignore and ignore.txt.

Besides, if you connect to anywhere but your home network with 10.x.x.x, you will get enough trouble from your ISP and several authorities already, no mods needed.

Those caught under another ban simply share computer specifics, which should not happen by default anyways. Would be more clear if I could give details, but I know then a whole bunch of ppl will use it to evade bans again.

Sounds like a caught ban to me, but Exalt does raise 1 valid point - there are approx 480 active bans in of duration of greater then 12 months which also includes name bans (was 417 in Oct when i actively checked them). There us an additional 100+ active netbans.

Obviously i cant explain the full detail on how people are caught, but i can guarantee a minimum of 10% of these bans, and more realistically 40% will catch at least 1 other player. Certain relating to computers default to a common figure, thus the catch.

This means in terms of Steam there will be players banned who have never played this game before full stop. I know i has The_Paul do a bang wipe approx 3 years ago where between us we wiped all bans over 12 months wheee possible and probably cleared 70% of old bans off, and may e that can be done again, but any bans placed will need a careful track to avoid the common indicator(LE knows what that is). Watching those bans are a full time job, and i probably spent 3hrs a day outside of playing the game just dealing with ban evasion and caught bans, to try to remove the catch.

i have done some quick research and definitely looks like Exalt is caught under a ban, and this happens far more often than it should in truth. i will speak with Left_Eye to sort out the ban, but for now you will be added to the banfree list.

Does this list prevent me from getting banned in the future as well? Not that I'd ever get banned for any reason, but it would be nice to know that this won't happen again.

Lol! I'd not actually do anything that could get me banned, and I'm pretty sure they could just remove me from the list if I did. Just asking if it prevents any more net bans from screwing me

i dont really know the ins and outs of banG, but based on my knowledge of how similar banning systems work, you should be good to go for now.

to further clarify, being on the ban free list means you should not have any trouble logging on the name Exalt even if someone with similar information to yours was banned (whether its a cross-zone ban or normal one). this only holds true in our zone, and thus there is always a chance that you could be caught under a ban in other zones.

tbh, we rarely add any names to that list as most of the time when someone gets caught under a ban it can be sorted out with a simple modification to the ban itself. i haven't bothered to learn all the ins and outs of BanG, mostly because i rarely have to use it, but maybe now could be a good time to do extra research for the future.
