in my opinion trench wars is so popular cause it is easy to get kills right off the bat. ill admit, thats why i came here first. im not saying that variety is a bad thing, more variety is good. but those ships and their "variety" do degrade the quality of play in pubs. damn, it should at least take newbs and lamers skill to ruin everyone else's good time.

i enjoy hunting levis and lts and then rubbing it in their faces when i kill them with macros depicted sexual arousals. Nothing like make a Lt and his protectors real mad so that they hunt you while you are still hunting teir levi attempting to green. That is why i play pubs.


EDIT: I also like to take base in a weasel. Especially the new weasel which can hold its own against any ship.

I'm with TK. There's nothing like pub sharking. Players who are new to the game tend to disregard the shark, thinking it's a useless ship. That's when I sneak up and cram a well timed mine/emp down their throat.

the funniest thing to do in shark is go around the spawning area laying mines in people's paths while thrusting so they miss u.

It's better in the lower base because there's less room for enemies to run around. Plus, if you miss, the mine still has a decent chance of killing something.

I tried to base-terr in pub today, and I've determined that I still hate pub. I got tked FOUR times in a row by useless levs and sharks that mined on attack, and then when we did get the base, someone pulled the ol' portal-below-flagroom-with-LT-and-bomb-the-fuck-out-of-everyone technique and ruined everything.

The only fun thing to do in pub now is fly around and spawn levis.

Pub jav is great fun, and I'm not talking about sitting in the top of the flagroom shooting down aimlessly. Most of the time I have a lot of fun in pub, and ?go base is just a different kind of fun.

After about 6 months to a year, you pretty much chose your path, you're either an elimmer/baseelimmer, or a baser. Rarely are you both.

I don't know if that's true for everyone, but it's pretty accurate for me.

I base in public quite alot, if noone to play with I even might go alone. The problem is that you can't keep it going, because the response to flagroombattles is LTs... You get blown out, and since you only got a few people on your freq it means hunting is no longer basing.

If there is one thing I hate it is when one freq has more than one terrier, it splits up the team. And most of the time it weakens the team, don't expect people to use two terriers in some kind of strategic way.

Missing point: with the tiny weasel you can also easily hunt levis bombing you from the roof

There are also more cloakers in base now. Whether you like facing cloakers or not, at least now they're used to base more often. For me, at least, that's a step in the right direction.

I used to love basing in the pub.......but after like5 minute or so. here comes those gay Levis firing everywhere and x going though holes and killing.........so now i hate basing

Oh no the cloaker/levy new settings argument again, I thought this topic has been exhausted.

Put it to you all straight.

I trust the judgement of the Pub Arena settings moderator with the new settings.

The new settings for the leviathans/weasel are ok once you get use to them.

The 'X' or Weasel still has some limitations, it is slow, so in open space it can't do too much, except hunt levys... In Base, you have terriers.... I think these settings create a new situation where other ships can fight each other... it makes it challenging for the terriers. *Might I add, it always cute to see a terrier freak out when 1 Weasel comes close to the holes of the flagroom...heh.. its like a bird protecting its nest in real life..hah

I still believe the leviathans should have atleast 2 repels, it just too easy to kill them... EVEN if they have escort with them? Why?

OK...say you have 1 terrier and 1 warbird escorting a levy to either a SAFEBASE or upto the flagroom.

If I fly a warbird, I can be considerable distant and just aim for the levy.... sometimes I can knock out the levy without even worrying about the other ships.

So leviathans do need repels (2 of them), because they are just sitting ducks.

I never ever use leviathans, always use warbird or lancaster;
I love fighter ships. Sometimes I do leviathan open space hunting, but not all the time. Usually in open space I look for
good wb pilots to duel for practice... like Mr.420..heh..


Ohno its PURE BASING weekend, the poor LT's won't roam around.... thank god..heh.. As for LT's go, they should just raise the bounty or have something else?? hmmm.. I always see this in pubs... levy/terr goto a safe zone.. terr just lets levy kill it... raise the bounty...green up... LT created...

I never LT'ed before EVER, and don't really care much for it, I like to be an underdog ship and unwit more powerful ships.

**Could this be implemented in PUB basing? instead of reaching a bounty in order to attach to terrier... A leviathan must reach the flagroom and touch the flag and have 30 bounty.... in order to attach to terrier... What do you all think?

This will get rid of the green up cheat, encourage levy escort service, and decrease number of free roaming LTs, and encourage proper basing.

Another thing... concerning mines...
Shark Players should warn our team chat freq about where a large majority of their mines are...
like say..

Cause, sometimes when I play I have no idea whose mines they are... sometimes you can guess, but things change fast, an enemy shark could of repelled and planted his own mines by the time you come back..etc..

ps: TrenchWars is good... cause most people like that 1 shot kill... though spider/terrier/jav bullets can take a # of bullets to kill someone.

I hate Extreme Games/Chaos zone, 17th Parallel is not bad,
MERC/Counterstrike is coool cuz it is different...
