in some early version there was a typo that made that very clear indeed =)
continuum and cont are too long to use so I say ss. Some understand it some don't, shit happens.

        this is my opinion:
Subspace sounds a bit old school.. it associates me with those space invaders type games they played in 80's and early 90's. Continuum, on the other hand, sounds cooler and associates me with modern space movies and video games.

The rights to Subspace are owned by BDE (Brilliant Digital Entertainment, I believe) and has been since they purchased Virgin's catalogue of games or something like that. Since they know Subspace doesn't make money or anything they don't really care that we play this game, but to avoid any potential problems I guess they named it Continuum.

Anyway if you spent months making something wouldn't you want to name it something new just so other people knew that this wasn't the original one and that you (or at least someone out there) spent lots of time upgrading Subspace?

                    i am not a lawyerbot

                    IP rights in a nutshell:
(yes, it's US-based analysis, but international standards follow somewhat)

it's far easier for VIE/whoever to just ignore any copyright issues. trademarks (like a product name) however, require nonselective aggressive protection or they become void. so using a different name for at least the client (and hence the player base) avoids some of that.

i still call it subspace, out of habit, though.
