  • Base /!notplaying:(ship number)

I am sure many basers have this problem: they get picked into 1 ship and 1 ship only. You see, I play many ships: I have terred for I don't know how long, although I am not a 80+ kills ?go base spider, 60-70 kills no camping ones like me is not exactly unpickable, especially when there are only about 20 people to pick from in ?go base arena.

My problem is that all I get picked into is shark nowadays. I am not even a 1st rated shark. I mean I can shark alright, but I can also play other ships alright too.

This is starting to get on my nerve. you see, I am not exactly kind of asshole who yells 'me, pick me in jav'. But I am not exactly kind of patient person who likes to shark in every single games, especially when I am in the same freq as camping spiders and a terr who often gets shot down by a single spider.

Ideally I would like to terr for a game, spider for another 20 minutes then shark for a while.

The problem is getting so severe that I have almost stopped visiting ?go base arena and stay in belim all day (under a different name).

Sharking can be fun, but for a player who plays 3 ships or more in ?go base, sharking for 3 games and more in a row gets really boring.

As such, can we have a command like

    :MatchBot:!notplaying:8

So when a cap tries to pick you in that ship (shark in this example) Matchbot would return something like

MatchBot> The player does not want to play that ship.

So the cap won't waste a pick on a player who would otherwise spec/leave afterwards?

EDIT: btw, normally more experienced basers do not always want to wb/jav. Usually only newb caps always pick themselves in wb/jav. It is more of a norm for more experienced caps to pick themselves in spider or shark.

I had an awesome rebuttal here, but TelCat edited and completely rewrote her entire post above this one to save face.

Well, if some newb only wants to jav/wb. Most likely she/he wouldn't get picked at all.

Rather than argue about this, I'm just going to say that there isn't a good chance that would work. If given the option, most players would rather sit out than play spider or shark. This would cut down drastically on the number of games that were actually played in ?go base. For every 1 "experienced" person that is willing to play any ship, you will have 20 that are willing to play 1 or 2 ships.

You will be surprised how many people would rather spider than jav. There were quite a few times I pressed the wrong button and put people in javs instead of spiders, they actually asked me to switch them into spiders.

But just in case what you said is true, how about we limit the /!notplaying number of ship to maxi 1 only.

I am just freaking sick and tired of getting picked in shark all the times. I asked nicely, no cap ever listened :/

There you go - I think that would be a good idea. The only downside is that it makes it a bit harder to pick players that way due to the fact that captains will have to generally go through more players trying to find someone that will play the ship. Wouldn't hurt to try out, though.

                      it'd be better to have:

                      !players 1
                      Warbirds: Someone, Someone

I like ZeUs!!'s idea too. And if it doesn't get through, then stop whining and play the ship they put you in or ask the captain nicely to change your ship instead of spamming "I want to spider!!" the rest of the game. Look at the + points of playing ships you hardly ever played before, makes you a better allrounder (hopefully )
