Pure Pub is sadly filled to the brim way more often than not.
Perhaps a couple or three of them?
I usually don't have much of a shot of getting in unless
it's after 1 AM EST. So I just hit a regular pub, play some
there until I can get in, while trying to make as many
leviathan players angry at me as possible.

Combining some of the ideas here and adding a couple:

1) Don't allow speccing in Pub 1 or 0 (as suggested by Stabwound).
Reason: So people who want to actually play in Pure Basing can get in the arena.
Problem: What if you need to take a wizz?
Solution: ?go, spec. Get back in the arena you want

2) Decrease the safe timer to 1 or 5 minutes in Pub 1 and 0 (or take them out completely, as suggested by kamakazi).
Reason: Ensures that everyone in the arena remains actively playing.
Problem / Solution: See #1

3) Don't allow people to enter Trench Wars in Pub 1 or 0.
Reason: So people who don't care what pub they play in don't take up space in Pub 1 and 0. // Sometimes people enter TW in spec mode and like to chat a while before playing (if spec is not allowed as in suggestion 1, they would be forced in the game).
Problem: ?

4) Don't allow private freqs in either Pub 1 OR Pub 0.
Reason: Keeps everyone happy by offering alternative; if you want to base with a private group, you can. If you don't want to be in a Pure Pub that's monopolized by an overpowering priv freq, you can go to the other one.
Problem: ? Confusing?
Solution: ? You'd get used to it, just as people have gotten used to the Pure Pub arenas?

5) Devote one or two more arenas to Pure Pub (as suggested by Sarien).
Problem: ?

Reading these over, I realize that the basic premise of almost all of these is to make Pub 1 and 0 less like pub arenas and more like automated, specialized arenas (i.e. elim). In fact, I don't think it would be such a bad idea to simply create ?go purebase1, 2, etc. or something like that. But yeah, in the darker hours of SS, these arenas might become a bit diluted (such is life, though). Additional problems / solutions are welcome.

Anyway, it might seem strange after I just posted all this, but I don't really care about / pay attention to Pure Pub (I play mostly in elim, wbduel, twd, or just sit in a priv arena and chat / afk). But I'm bored, so here you go. Usually you can get into one of these arenas in 1 or 2 minutes tops as it is, like Golden said. However, I have had a few rare occasions when I wanted to go to an arena a friend was in (which was a Pure Pub), and I couldn't get in for like 5-10 minutes or I just gave up, so I can understand Adament's complaint.

It's impossible to regulate what pubs people spawn into. That's why they are called pubs. Also without people spawning into that arena, the population there would go down.

That sounds the best too me.. Or if it is possible to move people into another arena would also be a nice touch.

Maybe it is even a minute, when I want to play in pub (without levis) at peaktimes I have to refresh arena list about 10 times before there is a spot, and when I come in there is an average of 10 speccers. The exact time isn't of any importance, it's just that people take spots they don't use. And having to use a helpcall to get speccers removed isn't really the best solution.


2) I don't doubt there were 16 in spec, or that you can count to 16. I just said that 16 people in spec was very rare, which it is.


Your doubt is ungrounded, I see over 10 speccers alot of times, that is too much for an arena alot of people want to play.
And please don't respond with "no that is not true" because that isn't a discussion, that is whining. If so I will spam you everytime I see more than 10 speccers in that arena.


3) I offered no solutions since the problem you raised, in my opinion, is not a serious problem. That's what I said, that was my point.

By the way, I don't know why you are taking an agressive stance. I would like to see pub 0/1 improved, and it does need to be improved. The number of people in spec can be annoying sometimes but it is VERY rarely a big problem, especially if you're just trying to get INTO pub 0/1. Doing that is not difficult.


Maybe you need communication classes, or maybe you are just a antisocial geek. If you start posting in a thread with "10 minutes omg!!!" -or in other words mocking manner- and don't bring any arguments, you can expect people to reply in this way.
It's normal that people don't take your arrogantly brought opinions as facts. Try again, or better, don't bother.


PS. If there are lots of people in spec, its probably because the current game is crap - i.e. its too one-sided or there are well-known problems with private freqs. Your suggestion does nothing to solve either.


Or maybe people enter the game to chat and end up in the first pub, because the server fills up the arena's in that order. Normally this wouldn't matter too much, but now there is more need for spots in levifree arena's than given.
