Hi and welcome
The first thing you have to do when you've installed the game is create a profile (just click the "profile" button and then "new") Find the nick of your pleasure and then fill in the most important fields. After you've done this, click "OK"
Normally your zonelist will be downloaded automatically, if not, just click "Zones" and then on "download". All the zones will be downloaded, select the zones of ur choice and press "add"
Now go back to the main menu, select the ship of your choice, select the zone of your choice (Trench wars ofcourse ) and press play. Welcome to Trenchwars!

You need the full version install of the Continuum Client (version 0.38). Go here to get it.

When you have installed the game, create a profile with a nickname and password then enter the zone called Trench Wars

how to get in the game: download continuum client from downloads section of trenchwars.org, instal continuum, and open it. on the zones list pick sscu trenchwars and select it and hit play. it will take you to a public free for all type arena, and you will probably be in spectator mode. press escape 1 to get in the game. escape 2-8 will also work giving you different ships. to fire a bullet press control, to fire a bomb press tab. the rest is on the F1 menu and the escape menu.

heres the shit that helped me most when i was a newb.

escape a - gives u a list of arenas currently open. select the one you want with page up/down

?go #arenaname - this command creates a private arena. i always liked to play with my friends in private arenas as a newb. then they all quit, and i was on my own.

escape+f6 - this command toggles periodical help messages in your chat. many of these messages will be of no use to you though, because only certain weapons are allowed in trenchwars. for example, it will tell you that firing a thor's hammer (bomb that goes thru walls) is the f6 key. however thor's hammers are not available in trenchwars.

escape+f3 - toggles nametag settings

Portal - shift+insert. i understood how to drop one when i was new, but had no idea what it did. after you drop a portal, press insert to warp your ship back to where you dropped it. can be good to get out of tough situation.

Burst - shift+delete - basically only the terrier (ship 5) has this weapon. it emits a multitude of bouncing bullets that will usually kill you. it costs no energy.

there are many other things like these in game but trenchwars disables most of them. play in chaos zone if you want to try them all out.

also when i was a newb i thought there was only 1 pub arena so i would yell for my friends and wait for their repsonse but i was unaware that they were in abother pub. 36 players can be in one pub. if you want to find your friends type in ?find and then their name, like ?find za gophar. once you locate them, use the escape+a menu to go to them.

here are some chat features.

typing a regular message will appear in blue public chat

typing ; and then a message will appear in red chat, and only certain people can see it. if you and your friends want to talk in private, all of you can type ?chat=chatname (it can be any name, doesnt have to be 'chatname') and you will be able to communicate in private with red text by putting a semicolon before messages. if you want more than one of these chat channels, type ?chat=chat1,chat2, and so on. to communicate on chat 1 use ;. to communicate on chat 2, use ;2; and so on. 9 chats is maximum.

typing // before messages will be yellow. it is team chat, and only your team mates will be able to see what you typed. in pubs, the two main teams are team 0 and team 1. to get on team 1, press =1. to get on team 0 press =0

if you want you own private team press = and then any number. you can play alone on it or invite people.

to make a private message to someone, that only that person can see, press F2 and select their name (using page up and down) from the list of people in the arena. then type / before your message. it should appear green. if the person is not in the arena, surround their name with colons. for example

:za gophar: I am new.

to make matters much easier, if someone has just private messaged you with green chat, you can respond to them without having to write their name again by hitting colon twice, like so ::message.

You may have tried to enter using a Nickname that starts with a special character (* & | etc). The name cannot start with these although it can contain them after the first letter. The error message you get when this happens is very generic and doesn't actually tell you that this is the problem.

Also, it may not let you enter if the nickname you have chosen is in use by another player. If this is the case, the error message will say something along the lines of "Incorrect password for username.."

Make sure you have the latest version of Continuum installed (V. 0.38) the link for it can be found in Malladrin's post above.

That's all I can think of. (Also, you may have been banned, but never being banned myself, I don't know what error message appears)
