Virus Help.

Hi, I've got a virus, AVG picks it up, but when I run the AVG Virus Test, nothing. I get this message and it tells me where the virus is located, I could possibly delete it manually if I could find the actual folder, I have XP and the PC has two users / logins.

Ah well, nothing much you can do, take your chances on deleting it but it may affect other things.

Or you could get other anti-virus programs.

EDIT: hmm doesnt look like they have it free anymore, oh well... backup and reboot.

Just buy Nortons/McAfee, much better than the free ones. Alternatively download a trial version of Nortons and use that to scan (Make sure you tick everythign in the options bit)

Think I sorted it, it copied itself to the System Restore directory, so I turned system restore off rebooted then on again to clear it.

on a similar note, i think i have a virus, too... i keep getting these weird line things that show up on my computer (see picture) and i don't know why they started showing up or how to get rid of them... AVG doesn't notice it or fix it or anything... sometimes they go away, sometimes they don't... the longer i don't move anything on the screen, the more line thingies show up.





they show up sort of freuqently, especially when it idolizes... sometimes, when i leave the screen saver up (it's blank screen) there's tons of green liney things like those... anyone know what it is?

YOu need to reformat your computer, stark. Happened to my friend and when he reformatted it was fine. It might be a worm, and those are hard to get rid of without formatting.

That is some neat virus you have there... never heard of such a thing. Kinda makes you believe your monitor is the problem. Wicked!
