Now that I have a DVD player and a DVD writer (I bought the NEC 25100A), I wanna get my avi films off my computer so I can watch them on my widescreen TV.

get an AVI converter (ie this http://www.winmpg.com/ ). Don't do it though if you don't have a back-up computer to use while it's converting because it takes a day or two.5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

at least MPEG --> avi took a 42 hours or something on my old computer, dunno about doing it the other way

You can use Ulead Video Studio 8 to create DVDs, I used #7 of that and had success with most .avi and .mpegs. It took 5-6 hours for a full film. It's pretty easy to use too (inserting chapters, menu making etc) and simple to get a copy of in certain places.Originally posted by NaiLed
However you will probably if not inevitably, get very bored of doing this everytime, as your CPU is hogged for the full duration. Check if your dvd player plays svcd's (normally does), then just burn the avi with nero to svcd and put it in...Original Mambonian
