  • Norton antivirus 2005 with subspace

I just got a new laptop that has 60 days of free Norton with it and of course I want to use it. The only problem is that is blocking Continuum from connecting. Cumulonimbus said that it thinks that the game is some kind of internet worm and that's why I can't connect, but I can't find the place where to remove that option. It's not where Cumu says it should be, I guess he's using some older version. Ideas?

to remove the internet worm option... open up Norton Antivirus 2005>>>Click Options on the top right corner>>>>Click Internet Worm Protection on the left side>>>>Uncheck the the Internet Worm Protection feature.... I have norton antivirus on my cpu and thats how mine works out...but i dont have the same problem as you, so I dont take out that option... GL HF

I'd recommend using PC-Cillin over Norton- keys for 2006 version are going for £13- remember to buy them from Canada for the best deal.

        A year's anti-virus protection for £13 is damn good.

I got 2 months for free because I bought this machine. That's why I'm using it in the first place and not some other firewall.

Norton's causes alot of problems I find. At where I work, we get callers that are exasperated because their mail isnt being downloaded to Outlook, and they've tried everything. We ask if they have nortons, and get them to disable it, and they do, and everything works fine.
I use AVG because it has a free version, plus I've never had it lacking in any way. Norton might have simpler ways to get rid of viruses, but it's still freaking annoying.
I used to use PC-Cillin, and I've never had issues with that either, but once it started costing money, and me not having a credit card, I jumped on the AVG bandwagon.

Norton is heavy I know, but I thought I might as well use it for the time I have. I've used Antivir a lot, it's free. I don't know if it's any good at removing viruses because strangely, I've never had any.

You said you had Norton, but Norton puts out a few different products, so I'm not sure if these suggestions will work for you.

                  FIRST SUGGESTION:

If you have the option to open up the main console of your Norton Internet Security program and select "Personal Firewall", there should be some tabs at the top. Pick the one that says "Programs". When the program rules load, look at the bottom of the pop-up box and scroll through the programs to find the rules for "Continuum". Usually the options are "Automatic," "Custom," "Permit All," or "Block All". If the Continuum program is set on "Block All", that's why you're not able to connect.

If that doesn't work for you...

                  SECOND SUGGESTION:

Are you using the NIS firewall? Norton might be blocking it depending on how you have configured your firewall.

If you have the option to open it up, then go to "intrusion protection", and check the "autoblock" tab. The server used by TW reconnects to your PC upon exit, so your firewall will interpret this as a possible remote system attack, and would automatically block the IP for the 30 min default.

If you see an IP address starting with "66.", you might want to unblock it and try to connect again. Sorry, I don't remember more of the IP, but odds are, I doubt you have multiple IP's starting with 66. blocked at the same time.

Hope this works. But if it doesn't, please be more specific about which Norton product it is, and if you have configured your own firewall rules. That will help rule out some stuff.

Norton Internet Security 2005. NIS then, I guess

Tried the seconds suggestion, it won't work. The client isn't blocked or anything.
