As all of you probably know, Microsoft is coming out with a new operating system this year. How many of you guys are gonna get Vista when it comes out?

With XP, I waited a year or two before switching over from Millenium Edition. Frankly, I miss all the cool extras that were free in ME (icons, sounds, themes, etc) that XP demands payment for. But this time, I think I might get Vista right off the bat. What about you guys?

I'll probably borrow it off my Brother who has an MSDN subscription or just download it, unless there's countermeasures for pirating this version. If that's the case I'll just wait until someone counters those countermeasures.

I will probably not upgrade to Windows Vista, mainly because of the Hollywood DRM features it has. It is more probable that I move to Linux full-time and use Windows XP for the few games that I play.

I have had several different versions of Vista on my computer over the last 2 years.. I know a devolper who receives the updated versions from Microsoft every so often. Unfortunately the only screenshot I have of it doesn't show much but the desktop. I had a bunch more screen shots of all the functions, but I've formatted my computer several times over since then... and this one I found in my gmail account. I had to shrink it like crazy so it would upload.

Yea, I used StyleXP and I hated all the extra crap that came with it. All I wanted were a few extra icons and a couple extra theme choices.

So I formatted and sorted through all the free downloadables at Microsoft's website and dl'd just about every extra free theme I saw offered. Now I use icons from 3 different themes: Royale theme for my desktop, The My Computer icon from Quebec, the Recycle Bin icon from the Nature theme, and for My Docs, I use one of the icons that comes bundled into XP.



It's the first time I've actually been happy with the appearance of my desktop---and I don't even have to worry about the extra 3rd party bullshit from somewhere else.
