Disabling start up programs...

Everytime I reset my computer, I get a bunch of programs that automatically start up...
Is there somewhere in the registery where I can stop them from booting up to speed up my computer some way?

There is a program...free too, called Spybot Search & Destroy.

It's a good one to have on your system. To check it out click Here

It has a setting for the startup that will allow you to control quite a bit of how your system works on startup as well as processes running in the background you may not have been aware of.

Rather than try and explain in my loss for words, the overview of this program is as follows:

Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too

i agree 100%. spybot s+d has the dope tools. just click mode\advanced then click the now visible "tools" tab

Or Start -> Run.. -> msconfig

Then click the startup tab, and it will show all the registry values and programs that start up. You can uncheck what you don't want to run. But you shouldn't go messing around in here without knowing what you're doing.
