  • HD + Enclosure

So I am finally goin to get an internal HD and mount it in an enclosure. Here is the enclosure:

Could someone help me pick what the best internal HD is out of these? I've already limited it down a bit to 24 using certain criteria such as 8 mb cache and price range etc.

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1200JB 120GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM

looks like a winner to me

btw if your going internal you wont need an enclosure, just mount it on the racks in ur case.

        i see

ok well heres the thing, if you use an external as your system drive, try if you can to make sure your LT supports usb 2.0 . running an external drive as the system drive (the one windows is installed on) will br slooooow with normal USB.

i would have you consider having your internal notebook hard drive as your system, and using this new external for storage. that is unless your laptop supports usb 2.0, in witch case it should be a decent speed.

also if im not mistaken, trying to boot from a USB (external) hard drive involves some tricky driver installations so it loads USB drivers during boot sequence.

anyways post the make\model of your laptop and ill be able to look further into what the best option would be

All I'm using the internal HD + enclosure for is storage. And unfortunately I have normal USB port on my laptop. I basically need to transfer all my music bc my laptop's HD is stuffed.
