    Windows vista

    hey ppl

    Thinking about making the switch, just seeing if anyone has checked SS for compatibility with Windows Vista. i dont forsee many problems but if i install it and cany play nemore ill be quite angry that i have to reinstall XP

    Install it on another partition, or drive and test it out before making a "switch".

      Reportedly does NOT work on the lastest version of Vista.

        just got a dvd burner so i can backup my storage hdd and install it there, ill update how it goes

            yeah it would make sense, but i work in tech support for washington mutual bank's website so i rly want to test compatibility and be the 1st tech at the office to figure it out how to get it to work properly. that way i get a few days "off" or at least not taking wamu cases to teach it to everyone else lol

              it doesnt work. menu just wont display zones. itll dl em fine but u cant see them on the list or play them.

                  been battling to play ss on it for 3 days...not getting anywhere


                  but on a better note its a clean OS, total fucking eye candy. media player 11 has potential for sure, unfortunatly doesnt support my dts soundcard drivers so shitty audio quality..

                  so anyways, to be friendly and informitave heres a list of the programs ive tested and worked, or failed:


                  WORK:

                  jetaudio
                  most recent version of daemon tools----witch allowed installation of
                  NHL 06- all game modes tested
                  doom 3
                  windows live messenger (duh)
                  AVG free edition
                  Hijack this!
                  latest update of adaware- full version with ad-watch
                  winrar, though somewhat glitchy
                  TOCA race driver 3
                  furmula one 2006
                  wings over europe
                  BitCo**t - latest version


                  DIDNT WORK:
                  Continuum
                  firefox- though i havent tried 2 yet
                  civilization 4
                  medieval total war


                  notice the worked list is much larger than the failed. so all in all its a nice OS. ton of new options and shit too, windows dvd maker all kinds of shit, too much to list. you really have to see it, its worth the pain.

                        just use compatibility mode once, let it show the blank menu of zone list, turn the ping graph on under options, set it to allowed programs under iwndows firewall and all those other new security things, restart. then dont use compatibility mode, create your profile and guess where tw is. only takes a few tries, just read the new zone info shit. you will never be able to see text in the menu so have fun guessin

                        took about 3 hrs this mornin to figure that out, game play is fine though, custom gfx and all


                        EDIT: this was after i fucked it up bad once and had to uninstall manually and delete reg entrys. so that may have had something to do with it
