  • fix for corrupted big images in game

If some large game images are appearing corrupted, for example the circle in balanceout. Go to Control Panel -> DirectX -> DirectDraw -> Advanced Settings and check "Disable Wide Surface (DX7-)". That should do it.

Changing colors to 16-bit can also work, but that's inconvenient.

You can also go to Advanced Options in Continuum and check the items that are corrupted (ie. Ships for balanceout, or Level Objects for lvz images). Or check Software Emulation which is similar to checking every item. But this method disable hardware acceleration and can drop your framerate.

Large images as corrupted? I have the problem of large images flickering on/off in balanceout but not corrupted.
How does it look when an image is corrupted?

Sorry, I forgot the DirectX control panel is not installed automatically. You can obtain it here. It's for XP and DirectX 8 or 9.

To disable wide surfaces by editting the registry only:
            Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw

create/edit a DWORD called DisableWiderSurfaces and give it a value of 1
