Is there any reason why TW is still limited to 1280x1024? I'm sure at least 90% of the desktop users are running this, and a high percentage of people would be able to support higher resolutions.

To get back on topic for a bit, 22" widescreens are quite useless IMO. They have a 1680x1050 which is quite bad when compared to the normal 4:3 ratio resolution of 1600x1200 available on 20" - 22" LCDs. A 24" widescreen with a 1920x1200 resolution is what I would get if I was looking for a widescreen. Of course they do still cost about 2x as much as a 22" (if you want a quality panel). But I suppose you have already bought that Samsung, which should be quite good unlike the BW model which is quite infamous.

Depending on what you do with your computer, all TN panels are crap. But as far the 226BW goes, I believe it is being manufactured by 5 different panels and only one of them (Samsung's own panel) is good.

The 226CW has a special feature that only Samsung can manifacture. This guarantees you a S(amsung)-Panel.

I made this in a new thread, since this is completely different from the other one.

In a few days I can afford to get a new monitor. My 19" CRT just isn't good enough anymore. Not that great picture, and it's a fucking block.

I started to poke about after new monitors, and everywhere I looked, widescreen LCD was the shit. I've never really used a widescreen for more than 5 minutes, and never for gaming.

I'm still unsure about what to go for, but I'm looking at the general area of 22" LCD. I'm looking to spend 550$ bucks on it. I'm looking at something like below:

This screen costs me 550$ in Norway, but 320$ in USA, so it's kinda hard for me to set a price range.

What to go for? Widescreen or normal? Which model would you reccomend?

I bought an HP 22" LCD flatscreen, but its got a hard cover, so i can flick it without makign the bubble you know, but not like the old monitors that you can punch and break your hand on. I love it although sometiems it glares if the lights right on it, its a widescreen and i like it better, if i was u id get somethign similiar to that, dont get the real vulnerable flat screens tho, they fuck the picture up, and no need to spend 550$ really, anything over 400 better be a fuckin bomb ass monitor

yes, trenchwars used to not have a res cap, but people bitched because you could basicly shoot someone onscreen with a 20000000x9999999999 res that would be off radar on someone with a 1024x720 so they made a res cap at 1280 res so that it was fair

One thing that wasn't cool about getting a widescreen was that it gimped this game. I either have to play with the textures stretched, or in windowed mode.

Stretched just looks awful, this game is already lacking in graphics, and fucking it up more makes it alot worse.

Windowed mode sucks because you can't get the alt+tab screen up, and when you really want to focus on your game, you want it to fill the entire screen.

If you want to still play this game, then don't get a widescreen.
