MS Word thesaurus checking in Portuguese, help!

So I dunno what I hit, but today I tried to check the thesaurus in MS word by hitting shift + F7 and instead of getting the normal list of words, it says "no thesaurus is available in the Portuguese language."

So I go up to tools>language>set language...and highlight English, set as default. It then works maybe 2 times max before reverting back to the Portuguese thing. It also wont automatically change i to I if that gives any clue. I even exited and restarted MS Word, still does it.

Anyone know what is going on and how to fix it?

when i went into word in my work it has a checked box in those options saying detect language automaticaly

try unchecking that would be my only guess from what i seen

don't know if it'll help, but I used to change the dictionary I used to Spanish when writing papers. I don't know if they're tied together, but you could try changing the dictionary word uses to check spelling.

ctrl + a and set english for the entire document; there might be hidden parts marked as portuguese, especially if you opened a document that has been edited before.
