I just recently added a old maxtor(10gb) harddrive to my rig and now it freezes my computer for a few seconds every time it start spinning and when it shuts down. I tried the config for the harddrive and it says "always on" under the display properties. The harddrive is formated in FAT32 instead of NTFS... could that be the problem? i want the harddrive to be always spinning so my system dosent freeze for a few secs waiting for that. please help.

In other words, does your hard drive stops spinning once in awhile, and then starts a few seconds (or minutes) later?
That happened to me with an old (Socket 7) motherboard; my hard drive would shut down with any kind of BIOS or OS settings.
Right now, this motherboard/hard disk is on Linux, and that problem is gone - but I dont know how the hell I managed to resolve that problem.Bilange> i love getting repped
Bilange> i said repped, not raped :X
