first thought is the motherboard battery, but if you have XP, the computer should be pretty new?

does it go back exactly 3 hours?

        do you have activesync? http://www.computing.net/pda/wwwboard/forum/1190.html

With Windows XP, there comes an option to automatically adjust the time and date. When youve got the wrong time zone configured, things like that can happen.

My advice: Turn off the automatic synchronisation. You can do that by right click on on the time, and choose for Adjust time/date.
Then look at the last Tab, there it must be. Good luck!

If it still doesn't work, there's a program called socketwatch that can update your computer clock. Search for it on download.com.
