delete this thread....or, remove shrapnel from twbd, and then remove FCs, and greening reps or bursts and ports, and then lets just take cramming out, and next lets remove the whole twbd map and just use the twdd map with a flag in the middle...we certainly wouldn't want to have anyone to have an unfair advantage or uncertainty factor

You do know that the arena settings can be changed, right?
The brick could be 1 to 3 tiles long, and last for half a second or less -- or just 0.1 second so it could be enough to warp someone. :fear:
I don't mean to shit on anybody's thoughts or anything but I think it would be ridiculously lame to have bricks as a shark. Sure it sounds pretty cool when it first pops in your head but think about ACTUALLY using it on a normal basis in a game. Let's put on our thinking caps and review these scenarios
1.
a) Assuming the brick is 3 tiles long and lasts .01 second: You don't have base and you rush in to see if you can warp somebody. In order to do this you need to be repping all the way there or you'll just be shot and killed on your way in. The reps are repelling everyone out of the way - whoops. Can't warp anybody because nobody will be there.
b) Assuming the brick is 3 tiles long and lasts 0.1 second: You don't have the base and you want to try and use the brick to block the base owner's shots to get in. Wait, that's pointless. it's there for a flicker of a second.
2.
a) Assuming the brick is 1 tile long and lasts for 2 seconds: You don't have the base and you're trying to get in. The shark somehow lays a brick in the cram. This is blocking the entire team and is basically saying "come on in, we're open and out of business, take our shit. the security cameras aren't even working!"
Seriously, that cram area is about three bricks across as it is anyways. Even if the brick is 1 tile it's still too big. It's just too easy. Using the brick will just be a really annoying thing that will get on everybody's nerves. I can see these forums getting filled up with posts about it already. I mean hell, it's not even implemented yet and it's already created a shit storm.
Anti-Scrub would like to recommend that everyone gets instantly warped back into spawn area at least twice per game. In fact, we support the complete removal of anything that requires skill and make the game completely dependent upon random acts of luck.
Anyone remember when sharks could get mvp? Now those were the good days to be a shark.
I totally agree, it should be really really hard but possible, figure out a way to do it. Tired of ending every game with negative rank when rank is what gets you mvp. If i go 60-60 with 5 teks i should have a shot at mvp.
vote 4 brick idea plz sounds gr8, make poll witness

yo that wud b awesome, 8vs8 2 capture flag in middle of twdd arena w/o any barriers...u cud have spiders sit back n provide cover fire while sharks rep n the jav can b the flag capturer with thrust $...n the terrier can bring teammates 2 middle, y i top 5 imaginer in tw

i still really like the idea of a brick. currently, the entrace to fr is 3 tiles wide. open it up to 5 and make the brick 1 tile. yes, it'd be a tight squeeze to get through either side of the brick, but this way a brick couldn't completely block up cram. in addition, given the proposed map change, i would still recommend that bricks only be greenable, rather than having sharks spawn with them.
i don't know about you folks, but if you ask me, cramming is still pretty damn boring. the removal of the two tiles that terrs would sit on has helped, but it wasn't quite enough. it's still a little too easy to hold a good cram if you've got laggy/good sharks and fr battles are just sooo much more fun. if we just simply open up the entrance, that might be too much of a swing in the wrong direction, making it too difficult to really mount any kind of defense at all. however, throw the brick into the mix and things start to balance out.
or if people aren't comfortable with sharks having bricks at all, maybe we could consider what pressure drop suggested regarding levs. tweak/fix the lev and give it a brick, making it a shark alternative. lineups could consist of two sharks or a shark and a lev or even two levs. leave it up to the squads. give them some choices. the lev would have to have less reps than a shark to offset the defensive power of the brick. beyond that, we'd have to sit down and discuss other proposed changes/fixes. if you get the settings right and make levs a viable basing ship, it gives us more variety to work with. maybe we can start to get away from the de facto 1 terr, two sharks and 5 spids (or possibly 4 spids with 1 special) lineups that have been around for-freaking-ever.
Im on my phone so i cant see the pic all too well but wouldnt moving up the bar like that make sharks unable to break cram by not being able to rep the terr from entrance?
I read about ur talk about cram being boring butthis would just make cramming easier
