Should we raise resolution limits in TWDD/TWJD?

ps: stabwound, fuck spending that kind of money in an effort to remain competitive in a game that's 15 years old, giving the widescreen users a playing field that's similar in size but proportioned differently is the answer here, don't give them a bigger playing field just because monitors are cheap now (relatively speaking, not everyone has $200 to drop on a monitor), that's stupid

I voted to increase the res limits if for nothing else than to add something fresh to an old stale game. I think it's important to plan on having another one of these polls in a month or something like that (provided that its voted to change the res and you do so) so that we can revert the changes if enough people don't like them.

Also, I use an old 21" (maybe 22, I forget) CRT because I have a huge desk and I got the CRT used for like $40.

Edit: I looked at the people that voted for the resolution increase.... I know in game lofty is sirius and I think he also has the name pro but are all three also the same person on the forums? If so he voted 3 times

It will just encourage players to rush in twdd. It will be easier to dodge snipes and mid-range, it will just ruin the league, forcing players to rush in order to get kills.

the lag issue is more important than the res issue.

Yes, lag is a major problem still. It is kind of hard to be a competitive warbird, spider, or any ship anymore without lagging. Only thing non-laggers have is straying, but lag effects radar movements also. I can understand having a high ping from being overseas.. but there should be a set limit for twd and twl that is much lower then all other arenas. Also, staff should spec players more for spiking... I get "It's okay he always lags like that, hes from Europe." a lot when I report someone lagging to an extreme. This should not be the case, if someone is seen to be lagging they should be asked to re-enter or be subbed. I know some people still do this. When you enter an arena and * the player while alt+tabbed, that doesn't show you everything. Watch the player for a few minutes. Sorry about the rambling 6 am and I need some sleep!

if you look who voted yes/no the majority of yes voters are javs/basers with a few wbs thrown in and the majority of those that voted no are wbs....so if you put this into place you should keep dd res as it is and increase the other leagues.

p.p.s who needs to invest to play this game? even with a increased res limit. if your computer is 15 years old, hell even 10 years old, its an antique. I doubt anyone here has a 15 year old computer anymore, and pretty much anything purchased within the last 5 or so years will have a widescreen LCD.

Seems counter-intuitive to me that "new" tech is not allowed, basically alienating people with a widescreen who just want the game to look "normal" and not stretched to oblivion.

i thought just reshaping the playing field so that it looks normal for aspie widescreeners like you was a simple enough solution that wouldn't give you a huge advantage over people who are still playing on 4½-year-old antiques but in hindsight offering an inch was a mistake because now you cocksucking malcontents want a mile and you won't rest until you can play on whatever resolution you want and thereby reduce a once-fun game to merely another battle of wallets

reshaping the playing field is what this is about for me. 1280x1024 looks like garbage, but 1440x900 still looks like crap (its still stretched out).

And i cant create a custom res of 1440x810, for some reason, all i can create with 1440x XXX is 1440x720, which is just beyond ridiculous to look at. (If someone can create me a 1440x810 res on a HD4890 equipped pc, please hook me up.)

As for your "space" dilemma, come on.. my computer and desk are INSIDE A CLOSET, that is like 4 feet wide, and 'Ive got space for a widescreen in here. (its tight, but one widescreen takes up like 20 inches)
