One way of fixing that is what turb suggested, give everyone pass to playoffs, but give top tier teams 1 game advantage for example, so maybe people would be motivated to play at least until playoffs.

This is a horrible idea. If you do this, that means the regular season games barely have any value to them and you may as well just skip straight to playoffs. This is what happened to TWD. You used to have to earn your way to TWL by playing TWD. But then everyone was invited to TWL and TWD meant nothing and died.

Well yes and no, I know it is ages ago but when I made my short comeback in 2010-2012 the problem with TWD and TWL was activity. The zone was already dying and the population could only support 10-12 squads which resulted in everyone making TWL anyways.

Early, pre 2007 TWL/TWD was different because the population was 600+ which meant there was a abundance of squads.

Now when we have 9 teams we could do one week of 8/9 battling for last spot > quarters > semis > finals.

Correct me if I am wrong but TWDT is ultimately the only thing keeping people coming back and the zone alive. Why not make the season 1-2 weeks longer? The more we play, the more we get bitten by the bug and want to return next season. Alternatively make the gaps between seasons smaller. If we are playing short format then 3 seasons / year with summer break should even be possible?

We could just make cups some sort of playoff only. This would make for a nice quick event between DT's since DT can be exhausting. Since DT keeps the zone alive we should be really careful changing the format for that.

This is going a bit of topic but 8-team "mini draft" single league Cups could be a fun way and basicly be done in a single sunday. It would probably require a different rating or drafting format. Players could be rated 1,2,3,4,5 for WB and Jav if you want a inclusive league and have allt eams field and 1-5 lineup. Or rathe them 1,2,3 and Cap at 10 to make a more competitive league. Basing should be done in some way also that promotes even teams. 1,2,3 ratings with cap of 16 or forced to field 1-1-2-2-2-2-3-3 or something. them just play best of 2 quartes, semis, finals. (better total score over 2 games win) Can get it done in 3 and a half or 4 hours almost. Well basing a little longer? But a nice 5 hour session to scrap out a cup. Or go two weekends with best of 3 quarters and semis, then do best of 5 bronze and silver/gold games the next weekend.

Or we scrap inclusive and make a good old squad teams, but then we already know 2 teams are going to stack and the rest are fillers. So might aswell skip to just doing finals and call it a day then.. Personally I think inclusive leagues are good to retain interest of less active and/or new players and zone changers

i would just like a pure basing league tbh.
