  • Appeal: 9/28 2pm Pwned.nl vs. Win or Die Jav Game

    Hi friends,

I'd like to request a re-scheduling of the 9/28 2pm Pwned.nl vs. Win or Die Jav Game.
A few factors go into this request:
    - The server is proving sufficiently laggy today - I won't be surprised if more people who usually don't have lag issues all lagged out at the start of the game or when attempted to be added (Tripin and Bad Badger lagged out)
    - The 1pm SVS games ran over time and turban was not able to show up on time (arrived around 2:08 pm, 3 minutes into the game) --> to fix this going forward, I think first hour games need a longer grace period / ability to extend time during lineups further than is currently the situation. We are obviously trying to work together with SVS league to reduce conflicts, so I think a larger grace period between games as needed makes sense.
    - News of the captains / assistants needing to manually monitor illegal subs did not come out until the past 24 hours which isn't necessarily enough time to communicate to everyone the new rule and memorize roster about who can be subbed for who etc. -> this resulted in an illegal sub on our part, subbing in a 10* for a 6.5* (turban for aiti) at which point I told the team to spec because we obviously broke the rules. At this point in the game, I believe the score was somewhere around 5-2 or maybe 7-2 in favor of Win or Die (the game had been running for 3 minutes.) Turban was under the impression that berzerk was our low * in the game so he thought he could safely sub aiti. Berzerk unfortunately is a 7.5* and not a 7* so I'm sure the game would have been declared a forfeit anyway, hence we saved ourselves some time and specced, and feel an appeal and replay of this game is more than reasonable.

In general, I'll mention too I won't be surprised if more teams have challenges throughout the season fielding their low * players, as low * players are naturally less active than higher * players, so this may be a difficult roster requirement to fulfill. Our low *, bad badger, was not able to play due to lag (unusual for him), and aiti only came over last minute from an SVS game as well. Hence, the original draft league format with a max * cap allowed for greater flexibility and less strain and a few key players being so critical to even being able to play a 5 v 5 match. Ironically, the low * player has become more important to the lineup than any of the high * players. 5 v 4 is largely an insurmountable disadvantage - strange to place that responsibility on a low *.

    TLDR:
    - we unknowingly made an illegal sub 3 minutes from the start of the game and the bot did not stop it. It was the first match of the season and this was new information. We were also faced with unforeseen lag issues which seem to be prevalent on the server today. Some flexibility here seems reasonable and fair.

Allegedly, Rampage's game, featuring BOMBED who was playing in the same game Turban was playing in SVS, was delayed from starting on time, so if this type of delay is allowed to accommodate an SVS player running late due to no fault of their own, it should be allowed for others.

EDIT/UPDATE: More info to help people understand what happened - Riverside computer crashed 1 minute into game so subbed in Creature (who was also late due to SVS), then 3 minute into game Turban shows up and asks "Who should I sub in for?" and aiti says "me," and in the heat of the moment Turban figured our new-to-the-zone aiti knew what he was talking about and the sub would be legit. Anyway, innocent mistakes all around in the heat of the moment of the first game of the season when not everyone is crystal clear on rules / star ratings etc. No harm done to anyone in allowing this game to be re-scheduled.

    Thanks love you all,
