  • TWDT32 Structural Overview - What You Need to Know

    General League Information

Head TWDT Operators: Mythril, Dameon Angell
    TWDT Operators: Lee, Stayon, PH
    # of Teams: 8
    # of Playoff Teams: 6
Captains: Mythril, RaCka, Dreamwin,Turban, Morph, Lee, Dameon Angell, Menelvagor

    Season Schedule

Draft Date: February 22nd, 2026 at 2PM ET
Regular Season Start Date: March 1st
    Quarter-Finals: April 19th
    Semi-Finals: April 26th
    Championship Games: May 3rd

Teams will play each other twice in the regular season in each league.

    Game Order (ET):
    - TWDT-J: 2:00PM, 2:30PM
    - TWDT-B: 3:00PM, 3:30PM
    - TWDT-D: 4:00PM, 4:30PM

    Draft Format

The draft order will reset each round based on the total * value a team has drafted at the conclusion of each round. Captains inherit their own ratings for round one which will determine the order at the top of the draft. Teams that have the same amount of stars at the start of each round will be randomized on the draft sheet to determine the order.

    Multiple Base Ratings

This season is introducing multiple base ratings for select players who are likely to play an additional base ship and are rated differently in those ships. Review the ratings sheet notes for a list of these players. They will be asked to create additional names to account for this.

Two players (Turban and Dwopple) have requested to have their main names assigned with their offship rating as they plan on playing that as their main ship this season. The rest of the players can only use their offship base ratings name for TWDT-B.

    Free Agency

This season will not entertain the idea of free agency. If you're interested in signing up to play, make sure you sign up before the draft on February 22nd.

    Lineup Restrictions

This season is bringing back the star which which places a lineup restriction on the max star value a team can field in each match.

    TWDT-D: 43*
    TWDT-J: 43*
    TWDT-B: 69.5*

    Borrows

If a team is unable to field a full lineup of players from their roster, they can borrow TWDT players who are signed up on other teams as long as they're rated 7* or below in the associated league. These borrows will be allowed on a case-by-case basis in real time and will not allow borrows for teams that are clearly abusing the rule to field an advantageous lineup for themselves. This is merely in place to help teams who are impacted by poor showrates on a given day to ensure the games are not forfeited.

    Playoff Format

Following the regular season, the top six teams will advance to the Trench Wars Draft Tournament playoffs, with seeding determined by each team's overall win-loss record across all three leagues.

The star cap restrictions from the regular season will remain in place throughout the playoffs.

The top two teams in each division will receive a bye to the semi-finals.

In the quarter-finals, matchups will be determined based on individual league standings. The third-seeded team will have the opportunity to choose their opponent, while the remaining two teams will compete against each other.

In the semi-finals, the first-seeded team will select their opponent, while the remaining two teams will compete against each other.

    Tiebreaks:

For purposes of tiebreak for seeds #1/2 and for determining which teams make the playoffs, the overall head-to-head record will be taken into account across all three leagues between the tied teams. If the teams are tied (3-3), the team with the highest amount of kills in wb, jav, and base (base minutes will be converted into kills, with 15 minutes equal to 50 kills) among the tied teams will rank higher for bye purposes, or for entrance into the playoffs. If for some reason the tied teams are tied in overall kills in wb, jav, and base against each other (with minutes converted into kills), the tiebreak will then shift to highest amount of kills in wb, jav, and base (base minutes converted into kills) across ALL teams. If still tied, randomly selected (via twitch stream).

For tiebreaks among seeds #3 through #6 in quarter-finals and for reseeding in semi-finals in each individual league (with win totals separated by league), it will first be head-to-head record between the tied teams for each specific league. If the teams are 1-1 against each other in a league, it will then go to highest amount of kills between the tied teams in that league. If the teams are both 1-1 against each other, and tied in overall kills in that league from their two head-to-head games, it will then go to total number of kills in that league against ALL teams. If still tied, randomly selected (via twitch stream).

When converting base minutes into kills, with 15 minutes equal to 50 kills, any decimal .5 or above will be rounded up, and any decimal .499999 and below will be rounded down.

    Trades

Captains can make trades until the trade deadline of Friday, March 20th at 5:00PM ET. This allows trading before the fourth week of games.

    Appeals

Every captain will have a maximum of three appeals per league throughout the regular season. Every playoff match will be eligible to be appealed.

Appeals must be submitted within 24 hours of the incident on the TW forums. A detailed account of the situation and the argument for the appeal should be provided in the thread. Failure to submit an appeal within 24 hours will deem the appeal invalid and the results of the game in question will be considered final.

The league op team will respond to appeals within 72 hours after the appeal was posted with a verdict and an explanation of their reasoning behind the decision.

If an appeal is granted, the game will be replayed at an agreed time that works for both teams involved. If the opposing team is unwilling to reschedule their match at a reasonable date, they will forfeit the replay.

Note: If something unforeseen happens that isn't accounted for in the rules or has no precedence, league ops are responsible for coming up with a common sense, rational, and fair ruling on the situation.

    Player Conduct & Bans

Players are subjected to bans or other punishments, to be decided by league ops on a case-by-case, common sense basis. Some cases will absolutely not be tolerated or negotiated:

    - Trading names without notifying league ops or logging on someone else's name during a match is an auto-ban from participating in TWDT for a minimum of (2) seasons.

    - Playing under an alias that is immune to proper alias checking while not providing your real alias. The league team can only properly rate a player if they've been identified. Overpowered players who abuse this will forfeit their opportunity to participate with a season long ban.

    - Threatening a captain prior to the draft of not showing or refusing to play for them after being picked will constitute an immediate warning. If the behavior continues, the player will be banned for a minimum of (2) seasons. Be an adult and ask for a trade. If that doesn't work, be a bigger adult and soldier through for the sake of the community and your future in TWDT.

    Emergency Scenarios

In the unlikely event that something catastrophic or completely unforeseen happens that has the potential to ruin the season, the league operators will do their best to solve the issue with the best interest of the TWDT season as a whole in mind. TWDT captains will all be consulted and play a role in handling such a critical decision.

    Cash Prizes and Rewards

The total cash prize money is $5,000 thanks to long-time Subspace Continuum veteran, Dad. There will also be a handful of other rewards. A more specific breakdown of how the rewards will be distributed is still being finalized, but there is a goal to reward individual excellence in the regular season in addition to rewarding the winners in the playoff tournament.

    J-B-D order is chef's kiss.

Easter Sunday in 2026 falls on April 5. Will there be a break due to nerds doing family stuff?

    Daylight Shit Time
US/CAN - clocks go forward 1 hour on Sunday 8th March
UK/EU - clocks go forward 1 hour on Sunday 29th March

This means that games on the following days will be 1 hour earlier than usual for UK/EU players:
    March 8th
    March 15th
    March 22nd

    Then returns to normal for:
    March 29th

US/CAN players are unaffected, games are always at the same time for you because the schedule is based on your region.

    --
p.s. when writing schedule posts, don't write the schedule in EST or EDT, write ET instead. ET is your eastern time zone which changes between EST and EDT when the clocks change, EST and EDT themselves do not change when the clocks change.

Thanks Rab. Updated to ET. Missed your updates on Daylight Shit Time with you gone the last few seasons.

Jav>Base>WB order was implemented for the first time last season by Stayon/Riv/Turb. Worked really well, just stealing their idea.

No breaks this season. The plan is to get in and out if we're sticking with 8 teams. Going to play through Easter so we can avoid playing on Mother's Day for the majority of players (May 10th) which I believe has historically impacted showrate more than Easter.

          Hey Lads,

I can cap if required as a back up. I know I am not as skilled as the other captains, but did win twdtd 3 seasons ago and twdtj finalist first season back on yoast. Secondly, was okay in teks/spid/shark back in my disoblige days. Third, would rather not, but yah if another is required, more than happy to help. Furthermore, just one thing, hopefuly we have many teams and everyone gets to play, so some of us 6/6.5s don't get a chance to get a round or two in. Thanks for organizing everything Myth+Racka+who ever else. Last of all, many thanks Dad for the donations.

          Your friend, Harder/Complify/Snes/Yoast

Serious question: How do you get to cap these? what is the criteria?

I would guess every league op has their own method of finding and convincing quality people in the community to be captains. This season we had signups designate if they were interested in being a captain or player in the form. Some players reached out directly to say they were interested. Then about 2 weeks before the draft we looked at who said they were interested in capping and selected the final captain list.

Some people (dreamwin, racka etc) have proven track records as elite and reliable captains. Those are the easy selections. The other criteria that makes someone an easy selection is being elite in two or three leagues (turban, morph). If we can't find enough captains that meet those criteria, we look at who else was interested and make judgment calls.

There are other considerations like how many elite multi-leaguers are available to select from on the draft sheet. If we let lower * captains draft alongside higher * captains, are there players in the signup pool that lower * caps can draft (zidane, okyo, bombed etc) to be the foundational player that they build their team around? And then if we allow this kind of * disparity between captains, what kind of draft rules/format can we put in place to ensure they get those players in the draft?

None of that problem solving is that complex or difficult. The surprisingly hard part is simply finding 8 captains of any type. It's a near guarantee that several of the people who were interested in capping early on will have something come up or have a change of mind before the draft happens. We can't force anyone to do it and there's very few who volunteer season to season.
