Time race basing

I am trying to think of what kind of effects on the game it might have.
Some people do really believe that a well-executed line can hold base just as well as cramming -they're wrong- but has only the disadvantage that you don't score as many points. Normally a team holding flagroom 10 minutes by lining would lose over a team that holds flagroom 10 minutes with the cram.
So basicly if a team could seal flagroom with a line they now could win that way.
Still I think there will be little to none squads that can hold flagroom with a line as long as with a cram.
In flagroombattles holding flag is now more important, normally it would be just as good to leave flag to the enemy for a bit if this would result in getting them cornered and then milk them with flag. So you probably got more people stacked on flag.
When your terrier dies I don't think you will notice much difference in the way an enemy defends, the cram probably is the best way to keep the enemy out, but for the attacking team it's now not such a problem to have more pressure on the defending force. Normally pressure would lead in more kills and so you would be milked in the ent. Now milking isn't a problem, but you just have to get in.You ate some priest porridge

Actually, there's already a working example of this system called pointbase. I don't know the exact formula for the scoring but as you probably know it's a race to 10 points based on flag holding. I dunno whether it counts the "dings" or one point per held minute but in the end it doesn't make much of a difference. Pointbase has always been fun and fair imo. In other words, I think the points race system is already a major improvement to the fixed time limit games but as several people already pointed out - it focuses more on cramming and milking as actual flag holding. With pointbase-like system it would actually make sense to kill off the opposing terrier as soon as possible. This would probably make the ship selection a bit more diverse (we might even see the "classic" 3spid, 1wb, 1jav lineup getting popular again). We might want to try it at twdtB and twbd first but I think it's a great idea overall.Veni Vidi Visa - I came, I saw, I did some shopping.
Also did some game development. Check out this horror adventure game if you like point'n'clicks.

Anyway, its sorta like pointbase except pointbase isn't on time it only counts the ding. So a team could hold it for most of the minute and the other team get the point because they got it at the right time.

Normally a team holding flagroom a certain time by lining would lose over a team that holds flagroom that same amount of time with the cram.
To Windreaper, pointbase gives a point to the team that has the flag at the bing, so basicly a team could have flagroom for that whole time and then the opponent touches the flag just before the bing and take the reward.
So kills aren't rewarded, but flagroom domination neither. You ate some priest porridge

Cpt. Guano! has been talking about timebase for over half a year now.. I think he had some problems making it work or something and decided to back out. I'm not quite sure on the details but he decided to abandon it for pointbase.
I agree it's a good idea.

Well the bot is completely done now. As in its ready to go all tested and stuff. I just have to wait for myth to upload this thing which will be whenever i see him online. So, in the meantime anyone want any cool features implemented into the bot?
Thoughts have a count down in the last 30 secs of the team that owns the flag.
It doesn't have to be increments in 1 secs etc.
Time is now people to get your ideas. Those select few who are online and actually read this get a unique privillage of real time feature addition given its not to difficult. So don't be shy speak up.
Btw I'm not going to implement the above feature unless someone actually tells me its a good idea.

every couple minutes get it to say "Randedl is a king among kings"
and put in a streak module (kill 5 in a row, get it announced)Philos> I both hate you and like you more than anyone in this game randedl
Philos> there is something about you
Philos> You're like the wife i'd love to fuck, but beat every night after work
PhaTz> we should all wear t-shirts that says "I WAS THERE WHEN RANDEDL LOST TWLD" and on the back, "TWICE"

If it's a race to fifteen minutes, I think an announcement at the five minute mark and the ten minute mark stating the flag hold time of either team would be nice. And then an announcement stating that a team has thirty seconds of flag hold time left to win would also be good.
Something like this:
FIVE MINUTES PLAYED - (Team 1 - 03:52 flag hold time) (Team 2 - 01:08 flag hold time)
TEN MINUTES PLAYED - (Team 1 - 07:31 flag hold time) (Team 2 - 02:29 flag hold time)
Team 1 needs 30 SECONDS of flag hold time to win!jasonofabitch loves!!!!
