again people seem to be assuming that everyone who plays SS resides in North America.
this is not the case, people with good, even great connections lag due to location, and the fact that they have to go throught 20+ routers.
example, i have a 2.8mbps ADSL connection which i pay an arm and a leg for per month, yet i lag, same goes for most everyone living outside of North America.
Im all for getting rid of lag in TWL, but lets be realistic, do we want to limit the SS community to people only living in North America?Displaced> I get pussy every day

I usually have relatively low ploss and current/avg ping, under 150 usually. It's jsutmy high that screws me, how will the affect me lagging out etc..

Neither Blood nor Vihta have an average ping over 300 ms. Displaced's argument was that only North Americans could play with those lag restrictions, I was giving evidence that that isn't true. You can say that they are "laggers", but surely you don't think their ping is anywhere approaching 300 ms. If you do, then you're wrong.Mr 12 inch wonder

It's like having a resource that can be used for good or bad. Cable users and DSL users and LAN users DON'T EVEN have access to this resource (= lag) ... unless they purposely use methods to inc lag.

My skills are also a "resource" nobody has. They should limit my 3liteskillzz.
Just limiting the average or maximum ping isn't going to help (should be 250~275). They should do something about people that move weird. I think that has to do with the ping fluctuating. That's damn annoying, because it kind of breaks the rules set by the server. If we were allowed to suddenly jump from one place to another, we would have a button for that.
It's really annoying that you hold a cram, and then someone just spikes right trough it and starts to shoot at your from inside, and not lagout. You ate some priest porridge

good point zerz.
people also seem too fixated on ping, id like to see a cap on weapons ploss (since there isnt one atm, afaik), and make ploss restrictions tighter.
lets say a person has a ploss of S2C: 0.3% C2S 0.1% would that mean that out of a total of say 1000 packets sent (yes a lot more are actually sent but this is an example) 40 of those are just lost or delayed? (correct me if im wrong, since i really have no idea how ploss works )
also, some sort of spike % tolerance might be an idea.
say you are allowed to spike by a max of xx% of your ping?(possibly a steady value of say 50ms) granted if your already at ~300ms, any spiking should spec you. but the way it currently stands cant someone with say 50ms, spike up to 300ms as often as they want without any problems? instead of being able to spike from 50ms to
with some sort of % cap, it should ensure a "steady" ping, instead of one that fluctuates like crazy.
just ideas, no need to start a flame war if any of those points are incorrect or un-pheasibleDisplaced> I get pussy every day

Secondly, I would consider have a good connection also a resource. You also have something that other people do not.
You are more likely to see every bullet that your teams sees, this is a nice advantage if you are sharking or even in javs.
