When looking at appropriate lag limits we're not basing it on who plays 56k or eliminating 56kers. It's on what is a FAIR lag limit regardless of connection. We want FAIR teamplay ... I don't care if you're a cable user who lags or a 56ker who lags ... I don't discriminate btwn them ... you both lag. You both should be penalized by being specced.
To me 300 ms ping max is appropriate. Most cable, DSL, LAN users can deal with that AS WELL as 56kers. I also agree that 0.5 ploss across the board or lower than that would be a nice max. As we all said before ... the "skill lag" that I call it ... is usually because of flucuations in ping or ploss (any type of ploss). I believe Guano specifically addressed this issue when he worked on the new bots. I dunno if there is any 'help' or 'suggestions' we can give to the idea of fluctuations ... bc for sure, most of us have no idea what would be appropriate and how the bot measures these things (I'd say the programmers know the best ... a la Guano).
