You have great individual spiders, but weak sharks (even if you get ryan and castro in there, they're just not solid enough together). Your spiders can work well together, but just not as well as when A-S's are on. Not to mention the terrs. Myth is looking rusty, sure he can pull off a ton of kills, but it's no good when he's making dumb mistakes and running into bursts as he was against -Final- this past weekend. Brookus on the other hand hasn't let go of his solid terring style.
From what I've seen this season, Pallies and A-S play different styles of basing. Pallies are all about the rushing around and causing chaos in lower, while A-S is more about control and slowing things down. Though I don't think A-S will be able to adapt to the Pallies type of play, I think it won't have to come down to that, and that Pallies will have to try to adapt to A-S's. A-S and Pallies both don't have the strongest crams in the world, and can both be beaten by a very strong push, but all in all, I think A-S has the better cram, and if Pallies go for a 3-1-1, they won't be able to get through it... depending on how on the A-S sharks are of course.
TWLB-
We do play very different styles, we've always been very aggressive and play a "if we kill your terr more, we win" style- A-S is a very X's and O's team that relies on execution, we're more about pouncing on oppurtunity.
I get really tired of people saying that we don't team well- it's like some bullshit analysis that people pick out of a hat, but everytime i see it I know that they aren't really watching the game. There is NO spider team that teams as well as we do- we don't have positions, we don't camp- we do have tendecies, but we're never limited by them- our spiders are great because they see beyond their ship and do what needs to be done in the moment. Now we've rotated our spiders around quite a bit, especially the fourth one- and obviously familiarity is the best virtue in teamwork, but I think we have the BEST teaming spiders in the game. I guarantee you no spider combo has played more TWLB games together than sleepy and hellz. Koan is often described as an "individual spider", which is partly true, the guy does turn himself loose sometimes (have you seen his numbers this season? sick.) but he covers as well as anyone in the game.
And did you say "weak sharks"? pish.
yeah, myth hasn't been as active as he could be, but he's still the best terrier in the game, and he murders for fun. much much respect to brookus, i really believe a lot of A-S' success is because of him, but he won't be enough this weekend.
I have nothing but respect for Anti-Scrub, as i've said repeatedly, they have some of my favorite players in the game on their team and those kids can fucking base their little asses off, but these guys are not good enough to beat us in a best of three, simple as that. one game? yeah, of course we can be beaten, we've seen that already this year- the basing dynamic has been beautifully competitive this year-- but we are going to beat these guys.
TWLD-
no idea- I'll say grapevine because they beat us.
TWLJ-
alls i know about javs is their bombs bounce and their ships are sort of a yellow-gold, but I'll pick us because Pallies is my favorite team (until Lame starts leaguing). Note: Mr. Spam at his all-time worst, could beat me 10-0 in javs.
twl-d: syndicates starters: demonfaze, escalate, fireballz, exe, 2dragons (or epi if they still wont put 2d in) grapevine starters: tys, mega newbie, metalkid, randedl, weaver results: syndicate wins in 2 rounds. i think now that playoffs have arrived, so has syndicates "a-game", i can't see them losing even 1 round now. grapevine has had a good season and a good lineup but i think that a lot of people overlook that exe and fireballz have played great this season because they only see how well demonfaze and escalate has done. i doubt any of those 4 guys will get 10 deaths in any of the rounds. mvp: fireballz
twl-j: syndicates starters: rough, fireballz, demonfaze, mr. spam, amputate pallies starters: blood, banzi, hellzno!, koan, lethe results: again picking syndicate to win. pallies have the talent to take this without anyone being really suprised but syndicate's teaming is better and will be why syndicate should win. mvp: rough
twl-b: (just throwing in lineups i've seen from previous playoff games) anti-scrubs starters: brookus, jr5, windreaper, spybreak, holydude, nosey, nethila, darkchristy pallies starters: mythrandir, ryang, bloodzombie, blood, hellzno!, koan, sleepy weasel, divine rides results: going with anti-scrub to win. i think pallies should go with a 5 spider lineup but they probably wont. i honestly dont even know who will be starting from these teams or why and who should win but i'm just going with anti-scrub because i hear brookus is so good that he should be able to win it for a-s. mvp: brookus
Here's my take, and I haven't been watching the new season for very long (only since about week 6 or 7, and VERY intermittently at that) so I'm probably an idiot.
TWLD: This is Syndicate's game to win; either they'll take it or they won't, but they are in control of their destiny here. I think the key player to watch here is FBZ; Demon, Escalate, and (most likely) exe will put up solid numbers come hell or high water, and if FBZ joins them GV has absolutely no shot at it. MK is good enough. Weaver is good enough. Mega might be good enough. I love Rand passionately, but I don't think he'll be good enough. Tys definitely isn't good enough (I'm just using Awesome's lineups here). You essentially have 3 "threat" players on GV (MK, Weaver, Mega), one of whom, despite 'breaking out' this season, still has a little grey question mark, and at least 4 "threat" players on Synd, one of whom (FBZ) is the question mark that the match revolves around. I think FBZ will bring it; I'm picking Synd in 2.
TWLJ: I wish I knew anything about Javelins, but I already lost $10 over PayPal for betting on this sort of thing, so I should really just shut my fucking trap. That said, Synd in 3 (though I'd rather see Pallies win).
TWLB: Pallies can break anything. Is A-S a better coordinated team? More consistent? With a terrier performing better this season? Yes. Yes. Yes. But when it comes down to the important moments, moments where (as PaulO mentioned briefly) there'll be a punch-up in the lower regions of the base, or a tiny hole in A-S's cram, Pallies will break it. Count on it. They will be playing as the offense here, and so (like Synd in TWLD) it's their game to make or break. They'll lose the first round, but Pallies in 3.
I won't predict my games, but I'll just put in some notes.
TWLD:
Basically the GV lineup is probably what everyone (well Awesome) thinks it will be. Syndicates will probably not be.
Syndicate
Demonfaze will be the deciding factor for Syndicate if someone on Synd ends up choking. Will Demon lead his team to victory with a tour de force of play like he did vs. Pirates? Let's not forget the fact that Fbz is one of the most solid players in TWL, and that FBZ, Demon, Myself, 2d have all won TWL-D championships before and have all individually stepped up in the past to pull their team through. Will Epi's sub of doom show through? Only time will tell.
Gravevine
Mega Newbie has been lacklustre in the playoffs so far. Was his season only good because it was the regular season and no one cared or is he actually good? As for Metalkid, he's been hyped in previous seasons, and he's a huge question mark. If anyone remembers back in the season 5 finals, his massive choke in round 2 sealed Onix's fate in a close game vs. Siege. How about Weaver? Last season vs. Elusive Weaver did not shine through, but was instead very lacklustre. Will he be able to lead this team this year? Count on Weaver to be the key player of the game for Gravevine (my prediction).
Final Analysis
This is a matchup which many have viewed as the old guard against the new. Gravevine beat Syndicate in the regular season, and has consistantly beat Syndicate in TWDDs. Meanwhile Syndicate has players who have in the past shone through like no other in playoff situations. I think in this game, even if someone chokes for either team, that will not be the deciding factor. The deciding factor will be whether Weaver or Demonfaze can step up for their respective teams (of course unless it turns out to be a Syndicate romp ).
TWLJ:
On the surfact this looks to be yet another matchup between the old guard of javs and the new. Syndicate with a smattering of former Elusive players has quite a few players entering their third TWLJ finals in a row, in only 3 seasons of TWLJ. Yet Pallies has Vihta formerly a jav starter for Elusive, and Banzi and Blood, long recognized jav talents, so things are not as clearcut as it seems.
Syndicate
Again people have Syndicate's starting lineup wrong but that's okay. I think it will be safe to say that Rule (who's started almost every game this season) will be playing, and he'll try and avenge what he did in last season's TWLJ finals by going all out to win this game. As well Rough is hungrier than anyone on Syndicate to make sure that he wins a victory as his constant nagging about gametimes easily suggests Of course there's Demonfaze, 2dragons and Mr. Spam, who last year were starters for Elusive's TWLJ effort only to lose in the finals. They made Syndicate to win TWLJ for the first time. Will they succeed?
Pallies
Pallies has some solid talent. Borrowing one line from an American commentator after Canada won the Men's 4x100m relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics, Pallies' effort is full of 'imported players'. With Vihta, Banzi and Blood at the top of the list these are three players not traditionally throught of as Pallies. Yet while their talents are easily recognized, Syndicate's top javs can easily match them in the game. The real question as others have stated is whether traditional Pallies player HellzNo! and newer guy Koan (wasn't he on Diso before?), can pull through.
Final Analysis
Perhaps because of the dynamics of the jav game, or because of personal intuition unlike TWLD I believe this game WILL come down to who chokes (unless of course some team romps the other team). Whichever team is down a man is going to be in serious trouble, Pallies moreso. Syndicate will not repeat the same mistake as -Final- and let Pallies win a round even though they go down a man 5 mintues into the game. In the end this will be about who wants to win more and I think I know who does.
TWLB
Pallies and Anti-Scrub handedly have the top 2 teams of the season (with -F- close behind). Although you might think 'wait they're in the finals DUH', in every league since the playoffs began in season 5 there have been major surprises in who's been to the finals. Onix in TWLD season 5, Elusive in TWLJ Season 5, Diso in TWLJ season 6, Melee in TWLD season 6, Spastic in TWLB season 6. But one thing is for sure, this TWLB final looks to be a battle between the best of the best. Expect a very tough match which I expect will go to three rounds, or two rounds with at least one round decided by less than two minutes difference.
Pallies
What can I say about Pallies that Divine Rides hasn't already said? Pallies has a damn good warbird strategy, and probably the best base warbird in the game (and the only guy who's consistantly done it for at least three seasons). As well, the Pallies teaming method, from splitting spiders to cover crossfires so that the entire screen is covered with their bullets from every possible angle, to being able to hold lower base like no other, to sharks that seem to cut through enemy advances into their cram like it was nothing Pallies has it all. All except Mythrandir being what he used to be. Points for a terrier no matter matters. Myth doesn't seem to care. But in the end, Pallies has wanted to win SOMETHING, ANYTHING and especially TWLB since they were formed. They have never come closer than this season, and they're in the finals for the league that they care about more than anyone else in the game.
Anti-Scrub
They have a super solid team, and definately one of the best spider lineups of the season. They have stellar sharks. They also have one player who has dominated all others this season in his ship, Brookus. Brookus has always been a pretty good terrier, but this season he has shown through on a massive scale. Unlike Mega Newbie who has been lacklustre through the playoffs Brookus has kept up his one-man domination show. He is the key to this team and I think everyone knows that (except the few on A-S who will deny it and say it's something else to try and throw us off).
Final Analysis
The question here is, how good will Brookus be, and can the Pallies counter him? Well I don't think anyone can counter him, especially with A-S being such a strong all-around team. The real question in my mind is, will Brookus have an all-star game of the season or just a good game? I think he'll need a game of the season, and twice if A-S is to win. Otherwise Pallies, with years of pent up frustration at never winning will be too strong a force for A-S to deal with and win TWLB finally, allowing Divine Rides to finally stop feeling like such a putz for predicting wrong about his team every season
just make the playoffs intersting guys, i am planning on drinking beer all day wacthing my favorite sports.
i can only predict lb since i havent seen anything else.
I think it will all be decided in the first 3 mintues of the game for each round. If A-S has a good start, Pallies will have a hell of a time catching up.
If Pallies get that first go, then they could possible shut us down.
weakness
A-S-cram breaking failures, we go minutes without able to break a cram for some reason. The entire teamwork just disappears
Pallies-Myth looks sloppy lately, conc is on pallies.
oh yeah A-S wins in 2. I feel bold
I will be watching from spec boys, make it a good one. Another finals for the ages.
EDIT:i forgot to put my prediction down
To all the virgins, Thanks for nothing
