More people on squads doesn't decrease games in twdd. It just means that the same squads play eachother more often. The lineups change so much with big squads too that it's almost like having two seperate squads in one.

Usually even in the biggest of squads there are about 15-20 people that expect to play in TWL (usually less if they aren't a 3-league squad). So not that many people are really missing out, because usually you won't get the full 15-20 expecting to play to show up.

I think a squad of 40 doesn't hurt the league in any way.

active doesn't mean capable of playing on a high level in TWL, and people who are that good won't be happy sitting on a bench. If Pallies went into pub and recruited 200 people, we'd still only have enough people to make one TWL team.

Well it doesnt really affect LJ/LD, buti n LB if they are active they'll eventualy get atleast up to melee's level (last season) just look @ RB last year. They were all basicaly unknowns and now they are some of the top basers.

just think about what you're saying...

if the extra people on pallies, diso, etc... (all the squads that you think have too many people) ...then they should make a new squad so they get to play more games and twlb as a whole is improved.

if they wanted to play, they could make a new squad... but obviously they'd rather be bench warmers for pallies/diso/spastic, etc... so who cares? TWLB has enough squads to make it competitive.. just look at last season.

Then why is stabwound and others on TWD chat asking why basing isnt played as much this season? Obviously th guys who base all the time would know if the talent level went down, or if there isnt anyone out there to make more squads. Plus there isnt as many squads this season as last season in LB who are as good as they were. 1st off u dont got playoff squads like Synd, -f-. Then u dont have teams like WR. I know rite now is a time when alot of ppl like to take time off, but those 3 squads who were all capable of winning anytime arent around anymore.

Like i said above, this topic doesnt affect me bc im not on a squad w/ a huge roster, nor would dice recruit any of the guys who would probably get axed. Im saying it bc i think it would help create more things in TWL (squadwise). If no one thinks its a good idea then okie dokie, i'll just go on my merry way.

If i remember correctly, Syndicate, -FINAL- and even Shriek didn't base until just before the end of the season, and if i recall, whiterabbits didn't exactly base a lot last year... i had even heard that they were talking about dropping out of basing and twl altogether until Cylor and others came along. This year you have all the same people, -FINAL- will be back, Venom will take Syndicates place, ALF has popped up as the tanked-type squad. Theres others on the TWLB ladder. You have to face the fact that basing isn't suited to have more than maybe 10 competitive teams. Hell, take any league and you'll see theres only that many at any given time. The only difference is that there are more nobodies who are interested in dueling/javing so... there's just more games that dont mean a thing in the top 15-20 on the ladder. There's no real advantages to having those lower tier squads that dont have a hope at competing in leagues. Maybe some day more squads will go for basing, but trying to break apart current competitive squads to achieve this isn't at all a good idea.

Perhaps because some squads cheat? What is the point of playing Base against squads who let their terrier pull the connection plug with under a minute left, in effect allowing him to warp 5-6 tiles into flagroom? What is the point of playing Base games against squads who keep players on the squad even after they have been banned for this?
Or perhaps it's because of squads who cheat by double-squading.

Maybe that is one reason we aren't seeing base played as much this season.

I find it ironic that someone who has been on at least two squads who have been punished for cheating would ask such a question.

That's a pretty big accusation there. I've never pulled the plug on my modem. Also, double squadding is more seen in dueling leagues than it is in basing. If you said that basing requires more people to play at once and that lag affects it more, I would agree. But to outright say that I cheat or anyone else in my squad does without knowing 100 percent is wrong. Every squad has its laggers, but when the games begin, most squads have their fair share of them and are on an equal playing field with its opponent.
